Yes. It's way more primitive and advance than your lightbulbs. And there is virtually no heat from it too.
Yes but it needs a constant source of voltage and its not very bright, unless you overload it of course, but it still doesnt make a difference (besides a smokin curciut)
No...let's see:
Voltage needed to turn one 3mm bright white LED on (according to the ones I have down stairs): 3V
Household current: 120V
120 รท 3 = 40 LEDs. Now, we can probably fit that into the same space as a regular lightbulb, and it would be VERY bright. Only problem is that the LEDs are going to be wired in series, and that will be a tad of a problem. But then again, LEDs are very, very cheap.
That is so funny. I can see someone saying "Ill just sit in the dark but won't post it."
3V sometimes. Anyways, LEDs suck at lighting up stuff. They're only good as indicators.
Well, if you have one or two, sure, but 40? That will probably light up the whole room!
Lol, you should put a little picture next to the tab saying forums of a lightbulb, just for a joke lol.
setting up 40 LEDs spread all over a room could work.. or maybe not
For a bar they usefull, they give another ambient
I know houses that works with only LED, its an amazing house... and cheap

That sounds cool. What my brother wanted to do(that sounds cool to me) is cover his room with flourescent paint and put a black light in it. Pretty...
Currently what lights up his room is a bunch of blue christmas lights. They're pretty bright. And...
blue (:

Consider this: You are using less power that one lightbulb. Let's say the room has 6 light bulbs, and they use household current (120V). Now, that equal to 240 LEDs in one rooms, and it still uses less electricity. Plus, it also should be cheaper (though I doubt it if you buy 240 seperate ones since the plastic casing does cost a considerable amount...) and they last 100,000 hours (about 11 years) of continuous use. BUT the problem is that:
A: Household current is AC, so we need something to change it to DC
B: Powering 40 LEDs in series is plain stupid. One blows out and you lose them all, unless you plan to slowly find the one that's blown
So yes, it isn't pratical yet. Maybe in a few years, some LEDs will be produced that fits onto a normal lightbulb socket. That would definitely be cheap and efficient.
i guess it wont work then but a wall full of LEDs would still look cool =)
Look cool indeed.
Almost as cool as using the dark dark blue christmas lights my brother ses, or flourescent paint+blacklight.
hmm maybe no lights would be the best.. its the cheapest anyway..
Yes, and we can all buy nightvision goggles instead! It'll be cooler!
ye gogo nightvision goggles.. but i bet they are expensive

But they can be used anywhere, not just the room! That alone should solve everything!
Or we can use gunpowder. A constant explosion should light up the room quite nicely.
As well as killing you and the flash only lasts 2 or 3 seconds, taking in consideration there are not fire lighted up.
Best way is a damn computer. The screen can make anought light for anything. There's the solution!
Or, we can fill the room with glowing radioactive materials! Think of the great green glow we'll get.
No, get a bunch of staticcy tv screens and line the walls with them!
Let there be annoying spotted loud noisy lights!
The fire at the end of whatever I'm smoking is enough light for me.
This pitch black darkness is enough for me.
Hey, maybe we can constantly burn acetylene in the room! Think of the coolness of it!
Or u could sleep in the night... lol

Nightvision is cool. Everything is green. Green is good.
