would it be a bad idea to add the extra minerals to the existing mineral locations say 2 more on each? i'm hoping that i can keep the gas only ones the way they are. or maybe just add 2 fields to the gas ones or would that just be weak?

That's not what I meant. The fact that the two starting locations for the players are that close together and that easily-accesible defeat the purpose of even expanding to the further eastern and western sides of the map. If it were me playing this map, I would simply rush the user above or below me and have nothing to do with the left or right sides.

Wait, what do those replays tell me? They don't compare mining speed at all. You really need to move the minerals up to be around the cc.

I think the norm for bases is 8 min patches and 1 gas. And not in the formation that you have, splitting them up into two groups.

It also looks like tanks would own on that map. I think its unbalanced for P and probably other races. Zerg creep would also be easy to spread and take over the whole map with too.

also did some very slight changes with the shape of the bases, i know no one cares but it looks better now.

the gas expo is a bit useless. if zerg goes fe for the gas, ran or toss could just go fast rax/gate and own the shit out of him. put a few extra minerals in the main (a mini expo), like Blood Bath has 2 mini expos in each main base (6 minerals total)

lt is slightly faster but by like 2 seconds to accumulate 500 minerals on medium speed a difference of like 55 seconds to 57

To test how fast you get minerals, do it just using the standard four units you start with. Because people make flaws, and you could do it different times if you make scvs while trying to get to a certain amount.

i made 20 scvs then timed from 1000 to 1500 or whatever. the replays are long enough for like 4 trials if you want to watch those and save the time of doing it all yourself.

You can't test like that, yenku. Speeds differ when the patches are saturated.

Lost temple has faster minerals but not by very much. to accumulate 500 minerals it took like 3 less seconds on LT than on mine. mine took 58-60 seconds and lt took around 55-57.

OK, I just watched them, and it doesn't make much sense. >.<

In your first game you take a while to start mining, than you start mining with 13 scvs all at once.

Then, on your LT game, you gradually mine with I think 12, and you start sooner.

How did you get your times? You see, with your minerals, they are farther away if you add up the distances than on LT. How can it be the exact same speed?

okay here is what i did:

typed show me the money

i made 12 scvs

i told them all to gather

i started timing

i stopped timing when 500 additional minerals were gathered


in one i made an extra scv i think so i didn't use it

it doesn't matter when i start timing or what happens in the beginning.

3. Turn the players into comps, make locations, Area Town.
4. Let them mine for 5 minutes

Sorry if this sounds harsh, do not take it personally, but I still do not think this map would make for a very fun game. It forces players to rush, even more so than bloodbath. (after joining SEN people convinced me to HATE bloodbath)

I think this map could have had more potential if it was the same thing, but expanded in the the entire map and you added other places. Like maybe two more islands, more panels between the players and etc. Just so it would make a better game.

i just don't see how it forces a rush more than blood bath, it has a longer walking distance base to base. 20 minute games happen often.
i will take your advice and eventually make a bigger version though, thanks for the comments. if you don't like small maps which most good players i am noticing don't then you won't like this.
ya this was basically supposed to be a better version of blood bath, i liked the fast pace of bb, but it is ugly looking, dosn't have air expansions, and the bases are even closer together. and meant strictly for 1v1.

The reason why people are a bit more willing to rush with Protoss or terran is because there is only one place where your opponent is. No guessing where, and I guess your right, it is a bit farther... Maybe it doesnt entice rushes as much as blood bath but it is very close.

Actually if you made a bigger version I would like it a lot more than this or blood bath.
And the reasons, i dont feel explaining, are pretty reasonable.
