Well your special. Some people can't get over mental pain.

I am still depressed about my cat dying, which about what? 2 years ago? 3 years ago? maybe 4? I can't remember.

You can't live life by being depressed about things you can't control. It'd be a waste. >_>

Can't go into public? Why not?
Hate the way you look? So? I'm already ugly. I'm fat. So what?

QUOTE
I cringe at the thought of it, or anyone else.

Same.
The main reason I would dislike if my entire family died is that without my mom I wouldn't have food, home, computer, etc.

But, supposing I would still have some source of atleast half-decent food, schooling, computer, and so forth, I would rather put up with the mental 'pain' of my family dieing then watching someone have his limbs torn off.

I don't mind blood, gore, discussions about fecal matter, seeing 'disgusting' things, even while I'm eating, but the thought of the pain of having my face burnt off or my arms mashed into pulp or whatever tends to stun me.
I can't even imagine what it would be like. It's more then I can comprehend without experiencing it. But the death or loss of people isn't.

Ever heard of "Mental Problems" a.k.a. "Depression"?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Ultimo on 2005-05-09 at 09:14:52
You act like I've never experinced mental pain for myself, I'm aware of mental pain, ala depression, but there's some things that even depression can't match in 'pain.'

Mental Pain is by far the worst pain of all. Physical pain will hurt a lot, but, given the fact the mind controls the senses of pain, if you were to go crazy from mental pain, you would forever feel the immense pain building in you.

You obviously haven't experinced real phyiscal pain then.

Who you are, is mostly dependent on how you were raised. It's called socialization. You can change to be something else but even that requires that you have a decent education and good parents to begin with. A lot of people remain morons their whole life because of only how their parents raised them.

Mental pain because it can drive you insane and make you go into a giant state of depression and make you want to kill yourself or something like that, but mental pain is the worst, physical pain heals, mental pain will be with you for a long time
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Ultimo on 2005-05-09 at 17:52:25
Apparently people ignore the fact of the pain of getting your face burnt off. I don't think any depression could match that.

Don't think getting your limbs torn off or getting burns is going to heal anytime soon.

never thought of a burnt face.

I could have physical pain so bad that I practically black out and/or pass out. (that bad of pain has happened before sad.gif )
But its not nearly as bad as what you call "Mental Pain"

The sides seem to be equal based on the posts made here, but the poll shows that mental pain is by far, the worst to most ppl...

I doubt that would happen with such a severe thing as getting you arm ripped off, the blood gushing everywhere. You guys are giving "Mental Pain" too much credit, just since you've never experinced true pain. Get your face burnt off and come back here, and tell me if it's worse then someone you love dieing. =/

becuz people are voting first, then they change their mind when they get convinced about physical pain. (BURNING, AGH)

The worst mental pain i could think of is if you lost your girlfriend/wife or got rejected by her.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Ultimo on 2005-05-09 at 19:02:42
I suppose your whole family dieing while you're the only one surviving is so much better then losing your girlfriend.

True, but if you raise 2 people the same way, they won't be identical. Even supposing neither of them are odd(physical mutations, trauma, mental "problems", etc), they could still act radically different.
I'm just saying that that matters too. As you may notice, infants don't all act the same.

Umm... being rejected by your girlfriend being the worst mental pain you can think of...
No, I think that a mentally and physically traumatizing experience would be the worst, like the people in Concentration "Camps".

Well, I personally think it rather depends on how you compare the pain-types to each other.

If you compare a burnt face to having your pet to die, the physical is much worst, but if you compare having your family to die to being beat up, mental is worst, so... it gets us nowhere unless someone can actually make a table with random situations in compare.

feh... "mental pain is worst anyway" *says the macochist*
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RexyRex on 2005-05-10 at 08:59:51
Then you can't really compare them at all.
Two seperate things.
