Yes, but sprites are needed to cover up blockiness in terrain. If you go their you can see sprites are used a lot.

Sprites have NOTHING to do with terrain. They cover it up, yes, but units can do that too.

I think they're all horrible. Reason being is that these are screenshots of them in the editors, and not in Starcraft. In Starcraft they would look retarded, and some of these would actually crash.
