Yeah of course, but obviously they didn't get any drawings from behind the buildings. Thats why they kept saying (from the real makers' forum site) "Did you just copy that out from 2d"?

Insert is to go move the camera left, Home is to move the camera to the right. You use your mouse wheel up and down to change the camera to zoom in and zoom out, but a different kind of zooming in.

But how are 3 dimensions represented differently from 2 dimensions in a game? Isn't a screen flat.

It's not just how you view it, its the environment. You can control more aspects of the game using a 3d environment than a 2d one.

I think SC should have 2d sprites in a 3d environment.  Like Myth.

Oh please no, I don't want to be playing DBZ: Budokai 3 on the computer.
And that'd look pretty cellshaded dontcha think?

What? No. DBZ Bu-whatever was fully 3d, but the characters were cell-shaded. I'm talking about a 3d environment with 2d sprites. Heres an example of a game done that way...

It's just the color and shit the sprites were made, you could just as easily put something in there that doesn't look cartoonish. The textures of the ground, etc, are low quality. It was made about the same time Starcraft was.

He resembles a hellhound in wc3 more than a zergling in SC, not to mention he looks slow as ice.

Looks exactly like a Zergling to me.
If you want to complain, it should be that the Devourer is too brightly-colored, too tightly coiled, the front of the Reaver is elongated, and the same with the Shuttle, and the Psi Emitter looks like it was done by a 12 year old in 5 minutes.

Wait a second, you can move the camera angle and zoom in? wow, then I think im gonna grab me some wc3.

ADDITION: All the units look real nice, but take a look at the screenshots of the game actually being played, it looks terrible. I think its because the terrain is still in 2d?
