Warhammer likes to generalize, according to him, all rappers are like 50 cent, but there are different types of rockers...

Rap has range, yeah, but I don't really like any of it, with a few exceptions here and there. Rock doesn't "all sound alike", 50's rock sounds very little like heavy metal, just like comparing 80's rap and modern rap, but, still, rap has less range, considering it's only about twenty years old. If you want to say it's harder to talk to a beat then playing a complex, fast paced rock rhythym, then sit down, and shut up. Mainstream music is pretty much all crap, I think we can all agree on that.

1. Rexy, i dont care about your "cool list," because, you're just some person over the internet. Hell, you dont even know my hair color!

2. Stop taking Rock to 50s Rock and so on, people. You know what kind of rock im talking about, and its not Chuck Berry.

Anyway, you brought this conversation upon yourself. Some person started this conversation, and i got into it.

There is no way Stairway to Heaven has been played more then Mozart's Ave Maria. It is impossible. 30 years versus some odd 200? If you really want to get down to it, the most played songs are the psalms from the hebrew scriptures back from king david. Guess what? They have well over (aprox)3000+ years of possible airtime. So stop bickering about such trivial and blatantly incorrect statements.

Something you need to remember is that music isn't about lyrics. Modern day songs may be some sort of musical poetry, but music is not the lyrics. Lyrics are meant to augment and enhance the music, lyrics are not supposed to be the focus. That's my main problem with pretty much all modern music. No one cares about the music; all they listen to is the often uninspired and cliched, and not to mention terriblly pathetic, form of poetry. Very little modern music seems to care at all about the music.

The majority of commersialized(terrible spelling, sorry) rap music is nothing more then the so called "crunk beats" so they can go and get crunk in da' club... Honestly, do they really realize how stupid they sound?
Then rock music. Icky. Almost all rock music is nothing more then a prepackaged formula left over from the 60's through the 80's. There is little to no creativity or innovation, just simply the same things repeated ad nauseam to the point were it is nothing more then a mish-mash of stupidness. I have many friends who are very into the (real)punk rock scene, we are not talking pop punk(greenday) but actualy punk music. It's funny to listen to them talk when they get going on in a chain of bands, they can usually directly trace the musical style back through an almost endless stream of other bands who the original band simple "copied" or was influenced by. The music may slowly evolve, but it is still such a direct connection with the founders of the genre that show how over-done and uninspired it actually is.

I myself only seem to find refuge in a very limited branch of the electronica genre. Still, it's nearly impossible to wade through the slop and trash that is prevelant in mainstream culture. The truth is though, if you dig deep enough in a genre, you will sooner or latter find something that is amazingly wonderful. It may be simply orchestral in nature, or it may include some truley inspired and intriguing lyrics, the difference between genres is made at how deep you want to dig.

So instead of listening to this prepackaged, top-20 slop that's force fed to you on radio, tv and whatever else; go to an actual music store that sells actual music besides whatever the music conglomerates decide to make into the next big thing. Local bands, small-time imports, international music; once you go for yourself and discover what music really is, you might understand what you've been missing the whole time.

This is meant in no way to discredit some of the modern music artists. From Pink Floyd to Tupac (who happened to have some very original and wonderful music), but just to maybe show some of you a different way to look at that random jarble of air vibrations being reproduced by those speakers.

How often are those played on electronic devices/radio/etc.? Probably not very often. It seems pretty obvious that's what they were talking about.

Most rock revolves around the 1, 4, and 5 patterns, and its rare that they do something different. But i think that some rock songs defy the repetative-ness, and make a great song.

Anyway, supertoast, i dont have time to make a 7 paragraph bicker like you, im very busy. (Believe it or not.) But id like to say one thing,
Though lyrics arent a highlight of a song, when you have lyrics, i dont want them all to be about poppin capz in da 'negros.'

Your paragraph can be very agreeable. Anyway, back to work.

ADDITION:
Meh, ive decided to finish my lost thought up there. Just ignore all that stuff up there.

Toast, i can tell your one of those people who like music for music. (Duh, you listen to electronic music.) But sometimes it seems that the only way to make a statement to millions of people is to put it in a song, get me? Meh, im not going to finish this lost thought, i decided im too lazy.

Some rap is good and some rap is bad same goes for rock

Rap is more vocal

Rock is more instrumental

U cant argue about music because its all opinions

I dont know wich one is harder to make but i can say both of them require skill

One more thing this topic was about the GAME ( not the rapper lol)

I don't have a 'cool list'. Maybe if you could take the time to get over yourself, you'd realize other people have opinoins and there is the slightest possibility yours might be wrong. innocent.gif

Not really. I haven't liked you for a while, now (Notice you started at zero?). I just don't crack down on you because there isn't too much we disagree on.

But I'm happy to continue bickering at each other if that's what you want. (And it sure does look like that dry.gif)

Have fun insisting you're right. smile.gif

you need to learn to read... he obviously wasn't talking about being played on the radio. I'm pretty sure (correct me if i'm wrong) but the radio wasn't around at the beginning of history. warhammer said it was the most played in the HISTORY of mankind, not just since radio has been invented.

Rappers have lyrics,
N' Rap ain't crap,
why should we listen to you?
Off topic aren't you?

It's the music we like. Not what you choose that we should like.

It's all Wilhelm's fault for getting my topic locked, or anyone that likes to help him. If he hadn't get my thread locked, then the better we don't have to continue argueing. 50 Cent Bullet Proof is a video game, not music.
