Gold means you pay monthly... So it becomes jsut like Actual XboxLive... The Silver lets you create a Gamertagg and have a friends list so you can talk to your friends even if you arnt paying for Live yet...

Not sure iff you can get DEMO's from silver though but I expect not...

That's false as you can see, they're $50-$60. $60 will be blockbusters like Halo, Quake, Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid. And the lesser mainstream games like Dynasty Warriors or something will be 50$.

Also keep in mind it takes $375 dollars to make a single Xbox360, so they basically lose $75 per purchase (If it's $300).

How much does it take to "make" a game? I mean, I might be totally wrong on this, but it seems like all that you're doing, is taking a blank disc with lot's a capacity and burning some data on to it. I mean, in like computers, if it weren't for CD-keys, one person could buy a CD at the release time, for like 3 times the normal price, burn a hundred copies and give it to all your friends. Take StarCraft, people could buy a blank CD at like 50cents to 3 bucks, and burn it! Seems like it aint to expensive, especially if they are mass producing it. Are Xbox CD's like that?
Oooh..if someone found a way to burn Xbox CD's... greedy.gifgreedy.gifgreedy.gifgreedy.gif

1. Consle games are not CDs they're DVDs.
2. You need a DVD burner
3. They're incripted with protection code that changes every few hours or when it's turned on so even if you did make a copy it would last 1 playing time since it wouldn't work the next time.
4. It takes like 3 days to figure out the incription, good luck.

Heh, me neither, but I'll be buying Oblivion for PC (and I use the word "buying" fairly loosely here... although that game is just too great.)

My comp cost less then 900$ and it plays games at like the highest settings. I didn't buy a new monitor, keyboard, mouse, or speakers, or mic.
With OC it can do better.

Try Outpost.com they got good deals. Some are better.

Links? Proof? I'm pretty sure it would play some new games at high settings, but not the graphically intense ones (are you sure you were buying with case, PSU, etc. and not just upgrading?)

Proof? I just said $50-60 as an approximation, I'm sure a television network made specifically for games (G4, or G4TechTV or w/e that crap is called) wouldn't report something that was already proved false.

They made two versions of xbox 360 one is okay (Games playable and I think you still get the dvd player thing a mabob in their to[$299-$350])

Then xbox 360 PREMINUM (The better one with faster crap and the freackin bundle thing [$399-$450])

Either f*ckin way its still gonna be to damn expensive. God gas is gonna cost about as much as games some day each gallon.

60 Dollar Game
50 Dollar Game
I'm sure you know the Xbox version of Elder Scrolls 3 was $50 and Project Gotham Racing 2 was sold for $40 dollars when released. Or is that not proof enough?

Those are exclusive cases of pricing, not the general pricing range... Meaning, maybe other games would be more expensive (although I wouldn't imagine why...)

Anyway, the reason I said that was because I wasn't too sure that a TV network wouldn't check it's crap before saying it on air.

Yeah Sony has a nice setup with theirs though. I'm not sure how they burn their CD's but they do it in a way that you cant just copy the cd and run it on your PS. You have to install a mod chip which bypasses certain checks or use a cd-loader.

But cd-keys and stuff started back in the floopy disc days when people WOULD do that. They originally had people referring to the owners manual to page numbers or special formulas to answer to get into the game every time you loaded it up.

1. I have a console that runs off a blocky memory stick type thing ... is that a DVD? The PS2 can have games on DVD's and CD's. If you can remember way back in the first releases there were tons of PS2 games on CD's and everyone thought "oh wow cool purple dvd's".
2. Yeah even if you do have to burn a DVD they aren't that expensive now. I just bought 25 for $8 in a sale.
3. ... What? DVD/CD's are encrypted with a protection code that changes every few hours or the system is? Even then I'm pretty sure you're wrong because there has to be a certain degree of conformity for the system to recognize the CD/DVD as a game. It all happens in the burning process of the game that cd rippers and burners cant detect or do.

I'll be getting my mod chip hopefully one month after the systems release. smile.gif

Well The encryption im not sure because my dad told me that when I asked if he could Copy my Vice City for Ps2 (Broke) and he said he couldn't and gave me that explaination.
:/
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-08-28 at 17:25:44
He could copy it, but the PS2 wouldn't be able to read the CD as a game unless you install a mod chip or use a cd-loader (which requires a different kind of PS2 modding but is easier to do on the new slim one).

But yeah, I need the mod chip because I play import games and rare copied games I can't even find for sale.

Yes, every CD/DVD is pressed at a factory and the actual cost is less than a penny perCD.

The reason PS2/Xbox DVD's couldn't be copied was because they don't conform to the "orange book" of DVD standards and they include copy protection (for example PS2 has SecuROM I believe) on their DVDs. Since there is no DVD burner capable of doing raw data writing, it is impossible to match or "fake" the physical signature (or layout) of the disc's data to pass the initial DVD media test.

There are, however, CD burners capable of raw data writing, which is why you could make 1:1 copies of computer games (though not the ones protected by SecuROM: if you're lucky you'd best be off using the TwinPeak method to "fake" it or use RMPS emulation.)

Are you retarded?
It shows they'll cost $60 not $110 dollars. Also for PCs you'll be wasting more then $100 dollars per year to upgrade your comp. So comps are acutally more expensive then consles even with the price going up.

Actually, about $300-500 every 2-2.5 years.

For me to upgrade my graphics card it would cost me over $500 right now ... and it doesn't need an upgrade but I'm positive I would notice a difference if I did upgrade it.

I just upgraded my ram for $260 and my processor for $100(its still crappy but I'm holding out for a better one and hoping the ram will help my computer run faster).

Does anyone know if I would get a preformance boost if I use a sound card instead of the built in sound in a motherboard? The sound card is slightly better but I'm considering selling it to a friend.
