That's why I can't listen to punk or emo in excessive quantities. A matter of fact, right now I really can't stand Green Day, because they turned "Wake Me Up When September Ends" into a frickin anti-war music video. American Idiot or Holiday I could understand. I do listen to some erh...'punk' music, like I guess Bad Religon is punk. Emo comes up with good love songs, but that's the only good they do. mellow.gif

Alpha, the rock you have listened to is those gay poser punk rock bands that talk about how they dumped their girlfriend or something, to tell you the truth you haven't even heard the music me and my friends listen to it has meaning and everything not some pathetic music with lyrics talking about how they get laid, or drunk/stoned or how they picked up some hoes on the streets every rapper talks about that crap....and don't go back arguing that they don't talk about that because you know they do

The same thing goes to you when it comes to rap. You're currently doing a double standard right now.

I've always enjoyed listening to heavy metal with bands like Judas Priest. But I think its a dumb idea to not like a certain song because of its genre, if a song sounds good I'll listen to it.

*ignored most of the posts, sorry*

I listen to what sounds good, there's a lot of rock that doesn't sound good, but it's still the focus of where 99% of the music I listen to can be defined (broadly, including metal and that). This is because in general it's less repetetive, guitar and drums sound good to me, and I have a certain respect for the difficulty it took to make. I also enjoy when someone is actually singing the words (and of course, has that certain talent to actually sound good when singing) rather than speeding along in some overused rarly changing tone. I guess rock just speaks to me more.

I don't listen to what most people listen to, by the way. So what you think is rock (your dad's old metallica and guns 'n' roses CDs) doesn't apply here. I say that only to clairify Rock is very broad and no one could possibly like all of it.

or emo. Pretty much everything else is okay.

So you mean, songs without words? Music is about emotion. You mean only sad songs, or ones that talk about depressing parts of life? That's like more than 80% (based on what I've heard and know about) of all songs with vocals ever made. The word emo is a pretty stupid term, it's almost completly worthless, unless one defines it as excessivly sad... which is a lot of what I listen to.
