however i find that that even adults have defects in their brains.
That would be a case fully apart from the normal standards. A person who can't fully use the extent of his or her brain can't be subject to the social parameters.
i well, adults tend to think they are the best, but they are the one with prejudice and all the evil stuff, unstable reasonings and stuff.
Nobody makes the best descicions over 75% of the time.
Also, a lot of adults' decisions are based on experience, facts, professional studies and such. If statistics tell you that 60% of all teenagers that drink will be involved in a car accident, wether they drive or not, would you let your kid go out at 8PM and come back at 2AM?
If you had an experience in which your best friend got food poisoning in a specific restaurant, would you go there again?

Im sure that killing someone is just dandy. Its perfectly fine to kill someone at 18...
See, drinking is a bigger issue;;...
I know people who drink still anyway... no harm!

r2b, Im lost in words to say anything... That was debated at my school recently and people said to serve in military should be higher than 21 yrs because of the mental instability in military recruits...not really but... thats not about stupid stuff that happens only on occasion. besides, how much food poisoning is there in applebees?

It was sarcasm. Im completely against war and killing. We should never kill anyone.
unless of course, they kill us first, and keep it up.
I really wish we were judged by true, physical maturity rather than age. If you think about it, maybe, soon enough, it will.
There is no way we can measure or test our maturity. Plus, underage might have underdeveloped brains, or underdeveloped body. Thats why we measure our age.

Not yet. Only years ago no one thought there was anything like DNA to accurately determine one person from another.
dna might turn inaccurate once cloning ourselves could go legal and possible.
no one can know what we think, or do everyday everytime. I think our technology just limits us too much. you'll be a long goner before maturity measuring machine comes up.

I didn't bring up DNA to argue about it, just as an example. Technology is often ahead of its time, maybe this will be to. Maybe.
Age has a lot to do with maturity and authority. If you are older you can usually beat someone up because you are generally bigger. You also build your opinions which makes you a more mature person.
age system is a good enough system for me, however those who act immature even though they are of age... they either need to feel superior, or are retarded in somekind of a way.
Sometimes, it only takes one to destroy the balance of a system.
I should rename my self Hitler Jr. and kill all the retarded peoples in the world!
QUOTE(Red2Blue @ Jan 17 2006, 02:19 PM)
I've seen a lot lately the talk of age this and age that.
I wanted to clarify that age is definitely not everything. People believe that age is the key to superiority and that age is what defines and dictates everything. For that I can agree, life is definitely judged on age... but this isn't true in all cases. If life were correct, we would judge on true maturity. Maturity should be the standpoint on how we should view someone.
Just because someone is 21 years old, does not mean that we should instantly assume that this person is an adult with correct decisions and such.
Age can barely define physical maturity as well! I've seen some people 16 years of age and still without a drop of puberty (just a little note).
What do you feel?

maturity is purly based on your surroundings, and the way you feel like acting. You have to have a good concrete example of Maturity to perform it. You always have a choice to follow inline or not also. but i pretty mcch agree with you red2blue.
Society does shape maturity indeed, as well as the person's living conditions. I met my cousin a few years back and she was one of the most mature people ive ever met. Seriously, she was so mellow and on the level. I understood her completely. When I asked her how old she was she gave me the answer. Just turned 14. Wow. I almost fell over. I was expecting a 16 or 17 but 14? Make-up plays a big role I suppose. My sister is 14 right now and all she thinks about is anime and how cute stuffed animals are.
I guess society is really THAT much powerful.
