~70-80apm. apm doesnt really show skill (unless its on a pro-level, where it matters slightly more). high apm can show that you spam a lot of keys, or that youre using it to keep yourself somewhat alert.

People actually play melee in starcraft? I had no idea, I thought i was just people playing 9999 unit maps and bounds.

I honeslty play like 15 minutes of sc a day. The rest of the time i'm hsing people with my mp5 in cs or making maps.

melee starcraft is one of those rare things most people who buy starcraft never find. they go on battle net and find this map called fastest possible and think it's the best map ever and play it forever. Melee (on nonmoney) IS better than UMS on maps that are hosted on battle.net for the public. there are rare times when someone actually hosts a good map

APM dont show your rate of the game. Like Asmodey: he makes 140 and he wins such plaers as Boxer, Garimto, Yellow. Theirs APM could be upper in 2 or 3. (garimto - his APM=400!!!)

The only thing that saves me is my good start and micro.

The Terran Emperor, known for his asswhooping with godly micro. He also occupies a good amount of the first sclegacy's pimpest plays. And theyre worthy of that title. Im sure everyone remembers him locking down almost a dozen battlecruisers in less than two seconds.

Those "pimpest plays" were really stupid. Some asian guy uses a barracks to block the entrance to his base and everyone is like OMG WTF DAT OWNZ! As for their APM and ability to launch 6 lockdowns at once, I have a theory that they aren't human. They are a member of the same group as Humans, but they aren't Homo Sapien. Their species has different reflexes, for them time moves much slower. Oh wait... that theory has one flaw. If I act like a complete retard and spam actions, the most APM I can get is 250. You can't intelligently get the APM they get. I bet they play on like "Normal" or something. And "a second" is a StarCraft second in "Normal" speed.

one game a was obs'ing a 1v1 between two other people, and they are always obsessed with checking apm's after games so i was "twitch-clicking" on the minerals the whole game and i only got 318 apm... which is still more than 5 clicks a second, but i dont see how its possible to get that high apm when playing a game.... its not right...

My guess is that the professional players get incredibly high apm's becuase they are good at micromanagement. A player who micromanages a lot would probably get a higher apm then a fastest map player.

I usually play sc for a good 8-10 hours a day if im home...i have no idea what my apm is,but i always slow down more and more as the game goes on,except in battles...and nonmoney is definitly better then fastest possible...fastest is boring

does anyone know a program that can record screen action (making vods) and not slow down the computer and doesn't have crappy images (espcially if it turns into black and white)

BWChart is a pretty good program for check replays. You don't really need anything more.

BTW chart is cool.
Tells you APM, and compares your mins, units, supply, actions, money and stuff to the other player/s in a nicely put chart.
If you want to know how you play melee you should get it.
