The popular defintion of 'Emo' can be refered to as 'Little female dog'

emo: Emotional Hardcore

It's a term used to describe music, ranging from the 1980's to the present. The term is meaningless now, seeing how far it has veered from its roots. (Ex: OMG FALL OUT BOY IS EMO. No, it's not. It's not even close to the original emo)

Stop trying to get attention for yourself Clans, everyone knows you aren't "emo", nor do you have a clue what it is. (Wikipedia knows more about emo than you apparently do)

I think when most people say emo, they are talking about the kids who act depressed so they can get attention, all the while, they don't actually have any REAL problems to be upset about. Really, its just the combination of adult desires and childish coping mechanisms.

doodan i know u used to 'think' you were emo but by the sound of it u were probably just a poser. You even admitted that you were just spoiled and had a very good life. So u were never really emo. i already addressed the 'we want attention' issue so give that a rest.
we are depressed because we realize how unfair everything is. if you ever looked at someone else and realized that they are bad person and they should have everything they have, then you are being emo. figuring this is a STARCRAFT forum i know that none of you are at the top of the totem poll of popularity so im going to make the ridiculous accusation that you have all felt this way before.

I dont see how being "emo" or dressing "emo" sets you apart from ANYBODY, geuss what? There are probably a million other "emo" kids out there just like you so there goes your "individuality". God damn you people need to grow the hell up and dress how you want. I mean really, I dress how I want - nobody else dresses the same as me(as far as I know) and I dont look like a complete idiot/lowlife/douchebag in the process. If you want to be unique than make your own t-shirts and for heavens sake....make it a size that actually fits you.

Well, I never went all the way with the faggy makeup, hair-dying, and nail painting. Just the senseless whining, poetry writing, and attention seeking (I really did cut myself a couple of times) when I really had no reason to be so hungry for it. I had that whole "I'm sad and misunderstood" attitude, which was really just a byproduct of sexual frustration. I can admit that now, although I never would've then, cuz my denial fooled me into believing my causes were nobler. I was emo-ish. But of course, as this topic has revealed, no one can agree on a true definition for the word.

And I should also include that I'd never even known there was a "clique" of people like that until just a couple of years ago. I've only arrived at the conclusion that I was emo-like in hindsight. I really did think I was unique (which is another common emo misconception) at the time. I got over it pretty damn quick when I finally did get some sex and ended up getting the girl pregnant.

I hope I haven't given the impression that I'm proud of what I was at 14...

There's a lot of emo kids at my school with black hair slung over one half of their face with like some sort of blonde streak or red.. They wear tight jeans with tight shirts. Is that the usual appearance of an emo kid? If so all i can say is.. where the hell did they get their fashion tips from? Lol, who inspried them to wear stuff like that? By general observation, most of the kids who wear that stuff act gay, sound gay, and look gay. Is that also the usual emo thing as well? Surprisingly, most other kids tend to simply ignore them rather than insult them.

If flaming me helps you live go ahead, but I really don't know what is emo.

Emo is a style. It's a "cultural wave" of depression, complaints, not noticing the good and noticing the bad. If you think that life is dull, all peopel are dull, and living is horrible, hard and unneeded, you're Emo.

There is allso a music style called Emo.

What's with being depressed because everything is unfair? That definitely isn't going to help anything. The world isn't going to be more fair if you're depressed. In fact, it only makes you more of a target to get picked on by the world. Who better to push around than the guy who's depressed, doesn't fight back, and accepts taking crap?

I can't see any benefits of being emo except for getting so much attention your eventually going to be spoiled out of your ass.

There depressed because everything is unfair and everything is unfair because they're depressed. You're right, Moose. Being emo isn't going to fix your attention crave.

If I ever met an emo kid, I wouldn't disrespect them, I would respect them as any other person on earth but there will always be something there about the person I just don't like.

Here's another thing.

The only emo kids I have ever met, are the ones who have big houses, mommy and daddy gives them everything they want but pay no attention to them, they have all the new 'hip' things, ect, ect.

Every person I've met who has a crappy place to live, good parents, bad food, generally bad living conditions, have been some of the happiest people I've ever met.

What does this tell you?

I'm about as far from emo as you can get without being preppy, although I do tend to identify myself as a geek (geek, not nerd). And someone mentioned something about popularity of people on this site. You'd be surprised who plays starcraft, and especially who makes maps. Just look at doodan, he seems to get tons of ass, and I personally an quite popular. Most everyone at my school who I don't try to avoide due to their being an ass knows/likes me.
