Pokemons do die in factor of real death but in battle they just get "Fainted" or "knock out". Just go to Kanto and somewhere theres a city by some tower and it mentions graves of pokemons. But I still hate the game with all the evil conspiracys and down right stupidness.
Besides if pokemon didnt die that means you can stab pikachu in the heart and still live
