Then you're also giving the same amount of say between a Moderator to a GM and Admin.

Is the new member trial for all new members PERIOD, no exceptions? What about people who sign up only to submit maps to the DLDB and not visit the forums? Under the new rules, I would've been deleted for inactivity, since I originally signed up just to submit a map and I didn't start posting for almost 2 months. I don't think that's very fair to them. Maybe the screening process should take place only for members who are planning on using the forums?

I think the question here is how many memebers register per day, week, or month on sen... If theres not that many, having the job of approving members isn't that hard.

December 2006 3
November 2006 346
October 2006 70
September 2006 200
August 2006 294
July 2006 269
June 2006 247
May 2006 259
April 2006 245
March 2006 267
February 2006 229
January 2006 270
December 2005 252
November 2005 247
October 2005 225

You can easily say 250+ registrations per month, an average of 8.33 per day on a 30 day month. That and you have to add all the people who go up from one group to another which will need a further review than these newcomers. If you miss one or two days, it just got accumulated by a lot.

Read the system more carefully. If you sign up just to submit maps to the DLDB or ask one or two questions, you'll never need to be promoted and thus never need to be scanned. tongue.gif

Seems like a good idea but I think having to have 300 posts in 60 days is a bit too much. It might even encourage spam from those who are desperately trying to get the next promotion. Reducing the post amount for 60 days would be more reasonable.

*Syphon touches Moose's foot.

First of all, hack up DTBKs rating system. 'Cause it's awesome. In my system everything except 1337ness gets automated.

1337 posts eh? I like it already. Now it gives people a reason to brag about their 1337th post in the shoutbox. tongue.gif I just think though it won't solve the problem of spamming/quasi-spamming to rank up. You'd want to make ranks be mainly rep-based to solve that.

Again, I agree with using rep instead of manual checking for trial members -> members. Even if the daily registrations is fairly low (and even less the number of those wanting to become actual members), remember there's still the process of converting the existing user base to v5. That part could easily be hundreds of members per day or week up to a whole month or two. You'd certainly have your work cut out for you. tongue.gif

I'm wondering if there isn't be a good way to port members from v4 instead, though...

IF we get past that period, though, then it might be manageable.

Or the 1337th shout. tongue.gif

But ya, if the reputation works as well as it looks like it would then positive points would be a perfect way to promote the first 3 groups. Plus DLDB only members can get into the members group and not have their accounts baleted.

Who said it was required? It's simply a time safeguard addition to the system we have now.

Hear hear! The automation should work, and it lightens the Staff workload. With fixed numbers of reputaiton, posts, and age to advance, it lets the Staff keep a loose tab on members through Staff Rating, then the final manual screen allows greater control.

Syphon's method does seem to be a better tweak.

Personally I think for both hierarchies, the post requirements seem way higher than necessity requires or opportunity provides. Might provoke spam too.

That's why getting into elite is the only one that requires staff approval. tongue.gif I just hate looking on the elite page and seeing 10 or more people.
