I'm talking about ghosting in particular. There are other things, too, but that is the one applicable to what I was talking about. Because of ghosting, it will be harder to see the difference between high frames rates on an LCD than on a CRT display.

Because of their higher refresh rates, correct? ~.~

I'm pretty sure he has an LCD anyway tongue.gif

Probably. Who wants a bulky CRT just so you notice the smoothness a tiny bit more?

Wow, 90+ average fps in Company of Heroes (I just bought today).

Hmmmm. 3dMark06 score - 10140

ADDITION:
I'm using NTune's built in automatic tuning feature to get the highest stable performance out of my PC. It's going to take 3 hours, so I'm going to go watch Return of the King. I'll post updated scores later.

I do happy.gif

Uhh, try overclocking your CPU, save your GPU for later tongue.gif

I gave the GPU a 75 MHz core and 60 MHz (120 MHz effective) memory overclock. Also, I overclocked the CPU 534 MHz to 3.2 GHz without breaking a sweat. The nForce 680i chipset really is a monster. My cpu is only 2 degrees warmer with the higher voltages than the old, and I don't think my graphics card got any warmer at all (maybe a negligible amount). Oh, my memory is now running at 960 MHz instead of the 800 it had been at. All of this got me a score of 11,608 in 3dMark06, an increase of nearly 1,500! I just hope there won't be any stability issues, though I'm thinking about clocking my GPU back down a bit so I don't run into any trouble. I'm also thinking about picking up a decent $50 cooler for the CPU. It'd make me feel a lot safer than the stock cooler.

534mhz isn't that much with an e6700, IMO. I don't know why you're rasing voltages on it, it should run without the additional voltages. mellow.gif

I wish I had a good computer... sad.gif

Oh really? I went searching around for what standard overclocks were for my system, and most people raised voltages. Besides, you don't have one, so how would you know? happy.gif

Did I say that my PC was in the top 0.5% of PCs that used 3dMark06? How do I know that? You have to view your score online on their website.

You don't really need to raise voltages to reach 3.2ghz, to my knowledge.

How high did you raise the voltage to anyway? Usually, you should only raise voltages if it's neccesary, for example if the computer won't boot at a certain frequencys, or it isn't prime stable or stable at all.

Let's just say I have an infatuation for these type of things ~.~

.5% of PCs, but that ends up to being like 8923893 people so who cares tongue.gif

Actually, most people who use 3dMark06 actually have decent PCs, and not that many used it. I was about 3,000th of 600k+ testers.

Oh, I finally formatted my second hard drive. 320 GB of p2on, here I come! J/k. I can only use 305 GB of that. tongue.gif

Actually, I really don't know how I'll use it. Since I reinstall Windows every year or so, maybe I'll just let them be separate. If I had 3 hard drives, then I'd probably use two of them in Raid-0, but with only two, I'll let them be separate. I'm thinking all my programs on one hard drive and all other files on the other. That seems simple enough for me.

*Edit* I also just finished what I have to do to upgrade to Windows Vista. Let's just say that Microsoft sure as Hell doesn't make it an easy process. It took me about an hour, and I'm scared that they'll just find some stupid reason not to give me Vista. Oh well, because I have Media Center Edition, I could still get a good deal on Vista, but I want it for free. Also, I can only get the 32-bit version, but I only have 2 GB of Ram, so that's no concern to me. Other than expanded memory capabilities, I'd get some silly security functions, but I've never had problems with viruses or rampant spyware or any of that junk. Besides, the 32-bit OS has vastly superior compatibility with programs.

How cool is my mother?!

Here's what I ordered today:

Logitech Z-5450 5.1 Digital Speakers (w/ Wireless Rear Speakers)

Atlantic Satellite Speaker Stands (for rear speakers)

What is with people's obsession with speakers? I have a little pair of speakers that I got for $7 and they do just fine - never see a need for anything more.

I use speakers that came with my brother's computer. I really don't understand it either. I don't really see how the sound effects can get substantially better than they are currently (for me). Is it for surround sound?

Just get some good headphones, th real kind, not earbuds or anything like that.

Some people are audiophiles. I think there is a noticable difference, especially with Bass and quality.. but not something to pay 300 dollars over.

X-530's own, though tongue.gif

Alrighty, I am an audiophile (at least I have been since I've gotten a dedicated sound card). Also, the Z-5450's are THX, Dolby DTS, etc. etc. certified, and they're for premium surround sound. These are like the $1000 home theater speakers for PC (they're actually a lot cheaper because the sound card is located on the PC, so the sound card does the processing, and the subwoofer both has the receiver built in and acts as an amplifier(another $200 off there), and the rear wireless(!) speakers have amplifiers built in because the whole point of having wireless speakers is so you don't have to run wires everywhere). Basically, the speakers have a suggested retail price of $500 (although I bought them for $300 and they'll be $200 after a mail in rebate). The sound card is $200, and if I had to include a receiver and amplifier the price would skyrocket. The sound is amazingly crisp (I can't stand static when speakers try to hit extreme treble/bass), and the 5 satellite channels and subwoofer channel will really immerse me in the action. There are some cheap 5.1 and 4.1 systems, but they're really only stereo. They don't use 4 or 5 channels, and 5 channels will shoot different sounds at me from all sides.

I can't wait to watch Lord of the Rings on this baby! w00t.gif
