he probably wants to hex to unprotect maps
hexing is hard and it wont help you make better maps. starforge is good enough
it will take a long time to learn how to hex well and fast
so if your not up to it, then you should probably not try
Once again! I DONT WANT TO UNPROTECT MAPS!! I've tried lol i admit that, i cant cause either the website wasn't up to date or it was protected to well you couldn't unprotect it! so i dont want to unprotect maps!!! (also, i tried to unproted them to learn from them, so i wasn't doing a bad thing, kinda.. lol)
Still, you're not allowed to talk about it at SEN. (There are only 2 protections without a public way to unprotect them, both are PROEdit.)
"Takes a long time to learn how to hex well and fast"??? I don't even know what that means. Let's recap:
1. Hexing isn't a hard skill. It takes time to adjust to the new number system (i.e. 1E is really 30), but that's about it. Even that takes about 1-2 hours of knowing that it exists. Nothing else is "radical" about it.
2. You can hex ANYTHING. Images, videos, .chk's, programs (ASM hacking/coding), etc... The only thing that takes an enormous amount of time to understand/hex "well and fast" is ASM. That's about it, but I don't think that Mp)XIII is interested in it. The rest are just file formats which you could look up by googling for them.
3. You really can't hex well in StarCraft maps... However, you could get used to it and do it faster, although it won't make much difference.
Sure, learn how the .chk file format is structured. That, combined with knowing the basics of the hexadecimal number system is all you need. It doesn't take long. However, it has little payoff (except for learning the basics of hex, etc...)
Thanx for the support, and i kind of want to learn because I want a career in computer science like making software and programs and programing and all the computer knowlage I can take in would help, plus its for something i like doing, making SC maps. in the furture I would like to know baout C++ (all i know is its a form of coding for some SC bots
) and html/php coding (all i know is they are for the internet). i will look those up myself though on the internet, but thanx.
