You have a unit die as a unit is attacking it. You have a different enemy further away. If the dragon attack sprite is going near a unit and it dies before it gets about half way, it will keep going until it goes near something. I have only been able to make it happen with triggers twice with a cannon, then I gave up. It's really hard and can only really be done on accident.

You downloaded it, tested it, crashed, and replied all within 1 minute? Drink less coffee please @_@

I dont think it looks like rain, i think it looks like dragoon shots, but sala seems to think it could be rain, but it only works horizontal.

tornado winds maybe... wink.gif

Wow Kenoli, that looked nothing liek rain, but that was cool all in the same. Were those Wraith attacks? What happens when the attack lands? or does it just keep going till the end of the map and then disapear? Maybe you could make it so that the attacks hit and make an effect. Does this work for units other than Dragoons and Wraiths?... I think that was really cool lol.

If only it worked hirzontally. I did some testing with it, and it will go left to right or vice versa and seemingly any distance, but I can't make it get more then a couple extra squares of range going vertically. Is there a different unit number that will have the revers effect, so it could look like rain, because that was pretty neat. I could use the wraith thing for a sandstorm.

The unit is really wide, so you can hit it from about 70 tiles away in either direction horizintally. There is another one you can hit from even furthur away, it's number 2043, but its slightly different. I dont know of any that you can attack from far vertically, but there may be one.

I found one that defilers can consume no matter what player owns it wink.gif

To me the dragoon plasma shots looks alot like snow coming down all over the place. Really cool stuff here. Someone should perfect it =D I don't think i've ever seen weather elements like rain actually in a map before. lol

I've just been encouraged to make a 'special effects' map, using especially:
Burrowed/Cloaked Units
Phantom Bunkers
Unit attack animations
EDIT: And as for your 1-minuite-download-play-crash-reply...
blink.gif You need to get off the Caff n Sug pills...
EDIT 2: Kenoli, nice find, I tried copying it into my Test Map(I use it for my experimenting, refining numbers, getting technical info, etc) and I can't get it to work.
Could you explain how it works, for people like me?
EDIT 3: Oh, wait, nvm, I just realized you were referring to unit numbers.
I forgot you can change them like you can Sprite(change the id).

EDIt 4: Wow, that's pretty cool... my Zergling started attacking the damn thing through a wall when I scanner sweeped...
And then I noticed that it was attacking somehting that looks like a Zergling.
lol

What unit number can be consumed by anyone, and does it crash if you click it like number 2008? And does it give energy.

I bet someone already did this, but we should have a list of unit numbers with really cool effects.

I can't do much testing like that because when these things crash my laptop, it takes about 10 minutes to make it work again, but I'll be able to use my comp again soon. ANyways, these unit numbers are cool.

Goon makes snow, sort of
Wraith was great for a sandstorm I had
I winder if a Lurkers spikes will straetch across or not. And if it would make Infesteds go suicidal all at once. biggrin.gif

We used to have a giant list of unit numbers and effects... but it ... um died. pinch.gif
I think that all of the 'new' units crash when clicked (they dont have any portrait, name, wireframe, etc...)
Although maybe they could be disabled and made unclickable... w00t.gif

Phyrion, making the watcher do something is exactly what we don't want to do. We want to make it so easy for them that they love it. On battle.net, requiring brain power is death to any map... frusty.gif

Mmm, stfu? I was suggesting an idea, and if you disagree that's fine but don't talk down to me, thx.

Here is how i would make a rain effect.
  • Use text to make rain appear on screen
  • Since it would appear on half the screen make some clouds above the text
  • Center view on a unit and preserve so that the screen keeps centering on the unit
  • Add a rain sound
  • Add some observers for puddles
  • you have to make sure that whenever the unit moves the clouds do the same thing. For this use a grid system.

And then the players cant talk...

all i need would a rain sound.

If we could make goons shoot long range downwards, then it would be fine. You would move the dragoons depending on the area someone is in to take up less unit amounts and just have a few of the weird units on the bottom of the map. if you really wanted to, you could just use sound, but I though authentic or reasonable authentic looking rain would be really neat.
