Bah, quit avoiding the issue.

That is a very pretentious view to take. They don't "cater to the gifted individuals." Whatever, a gifted person would know how important their education is. Please, if you didn't read my other post, read it. Your education is so important. Don't realize this when it's too late.

I know some gifted people. I know two people who got 1600's on their SATs, and they do their homework. One of them is #2 in my class, was #1 freshman and sophomore year. She is a good friend of mine. She EARNED her grade. Even if you are 'gifted' you can't just breeze through life! You have to EARN what you get. That is what the school system is meant to show, and apparently it is showing it well. The other person that got a 1600 is her boyfriend ( tongue.gif ), and he is one of those people who you wouldn't expect to be smart, but he really is. He doesn't work as hard as #1, so his GPA is only like a 3.6 compared to her 4.5, and he isn't getting into near as good of a college because of it. He has amazing credintials, and he isn't getting into his school of choice, Princeton, because he didn't work as hard as he should have. He is still going to get an amazing job because he is gunna go to an insanely prestigious school, and will do insanely well there. But that's because he made a 1600 on the SATs, and his GPA was still exceptional! What did you make? Or did you sleep through those too? He shows that intelligence won't get you into the school of choice, or the job of choice. He shows that you can't breeze through life even if you are gifted. I'm being harsh, but as I said before, I'm only doing it because you are being stupid. I take that back, you are being completely idiotic.

I'm so mad at you and I don't even know you. People are paying good tax dollars so that every child can get an education, and people like you aren't even giving it effort. And I don't even believe that it is a medical condition anymore. Your responses are antagonizing the wrong party. If your inability to go to school was purely because of a medical condition, you wouldn't be mad at the school for not cattering to "the gifted individuals" disgust.gif. You should go to school solely for the tax payers. They are paying for you to learn! You are throwing away their hard earned money. That's sick. disgust.gif

What grade are you in? Because you are acting like a 4 year old, and your gunna be treated like one when you try to get a job. I'm sorry, but unless you have something to show a college, or a employer, you're not going to get hired. Try walking in to a law firm and saying, "I'm a high-school drop out, and I didn't have good grades when I was in high school. But I'm gifted! So hire me." I don't even think they would find it amusing. I think they would perceive it the same way I do - as being sad.

I can't be more serious about this:

Stop living in a dreamworld!

According to statistics: You are NOT going to get hired to a decent job. You are NOT going to get into a decent college. You are NOT going to live a happy life.

Please listen to what I've said and what I'm saying. I'm not saying this out of spite or rudeness. I'm saying this out of neccesity. I don't want to see anyone throw away a free education.

I won't hesitate to say that I would hate you if I knew you. Based on your responses, and based on what I've seen from individuals of similar backgrounds that I've seen at my own school, I'd hate you. You are given this amazing gift that is your education, and then you throw it away! That is the ultimate insult. Quit thinking so myopically.

I hope you read and respond to this.

But you can breeze through school. My school says you are suppose to spend about 2 hours a night doing homework, I do about 25 average, and I'm in 2 honors classes. They wouldn't let me take the 3rd this semester because it was against school policy. I still have one of the highest GPAs in my school though. biggrin.gif +1 point for nerds

The last time I was in math class, we were studying triangles.
Some things in classes are very elementary. This year the English teacher still goes over 'subjects' and 'predicates,' then we went off and read the Oedipus trilogy, it's really bizarre.

I've never turned in any homework
I agree you don't learn that much from it, but I do it because I want good grades. Principle pales when compared to how your future can be affected by the accumulation of these small grades.

CheeZe(U), my classes:
GT seminar
Biology honors
Geometry (I failed algebra 1 three years in a row, for not doing homework)
Theater tech.
English 10 honors
Computer sciences
American history

-black-death-:
I can see why you'd hate me, and why so many other's do too. I'd hate me, if I were in your shoes. And I do realise how important education is, that's why I haven't stopped taking classes, I'm on homeschool again now. I know a lot of gifted people, through the GT seminar. The majority of them are failing their classes, too, for the same reasons as me. If the school system were to evaulate you on your TESTING performance, I'd have a high GPA, also. Also, there are also many different ways of getting a high school diploma; the G.E.D., online/home schooling.

What the hell? Testing performance as smart? No, testing measures everything but how smart you are. I hate tests, it's retarded, it tells you how much you know at the time you took the test, not how much you know overall. I've seen so many stupid people get A's on tests because they "studied" only to forget the information a year later. Math for example, my class is so retarded. We're reviewing Algebra, I sleep, they're like "how do I reduce fractions?"

Now on to your classes...

GT seminar - I assume it's "gifted seminar" or something? Who cares. Useless class.

Biology honors - You're behind. If you're in 10th grade, you should be in chemistry or physics.

Geometry (I failed algebra 1 three years in a row, for not doing homework) - Failing doesn't mean you have to do the class again if the teacher can recongnize your skills in math. Obviously, you had none.

Theater tech. - Yay, another useless class.

English 10 honors - One class that is in the right place. Good job.

Computer sciences - Be more specific.

American history - AP or just an easy history class?

...ok everything here is based off of my opinion so don't censored.gif ;/

Yeah, I think tests aren't a very good indicator of your knowledge.

However, some aren't too bad at all. Like the SAT. It's super hard to study for the SAT because it is so broad, especially this new SAT that they are doing.

But seriously, don't expect to make good money if you have a .04 GPA, unless you have, like, a 1550 GPA.

When I took the SAT I got a 1280 the first time, took one of those SAT Prep classes and only scored 30 points higher, but that was on only 3 hours of sleep. I forgot I had the test, and I learned I was taking it at 8AM at 4AM of the same day disgust.gif. Oh well, I'm happy with my score.

But back to my point, a high school diploma isn't good enough if you want a high paying job. You're gunna need a good college education, too. So do whatever you can to get into a good college, it will help you a great deal in the long run.

QUOTE(nuclearrabbit @ Dec 11 2004, 07:25 AM)
It's not a matter of studying, I've never studied for a test, in the whole history of my time in HS, and the lowest grade I've gotten on a test is 74%. The way the school system is set up, doesn't cater to the gifted individuals. I've never turned in any homework, because I learn nothing from it. The last time I was in math class, we were studying triangles. I learned everything about triangles, in second grade. If the system was set up to grade you on your actual performance, I'd have at least straight B's. When they factor meaningless busywork into your grade, how are you expected to pass? I can be doing much more productive stuff OUT of school, than in.

I agree with that.

BD you're referring to what common folk call: workoholicism. To be gifted is basically saying you have a high IQ. No that doesn't mean you're born smart, it means they can process and store information better than others. Hell I'm lazier than censored.gif . The only reason I censored.gif ed up my math class was because of the mindless drabble called homework. I haven't done a bit of homework and I'm passing every test I take no studying either. The class by the way is Pre-Calc. Don't ask me to do problems, this isn't school.

Another thing, if you earn your grade then wow cool you earned it. That doesn't necessarily make it so you are gifted.

Another thing, that sucks ass nuclear.

One more thing! Yes this is the last, BD I meant no offense to your friend and congrats that your friend got a perfect.
