It seems as if you brought back an old topic...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EviL on 2005-11-14 at 16:29:42
Nope , it's an old topic, but DevliN and I decided to finish this map.
So we bring it back, now as soon as I can, wich mean probably tonight, I'll start working on triggers already. It will be very long, because triggers are very repetitive but that's the life heh? tongue.gif

I am not saying this topic is old but no one has posted in it for like a month. Good that you are trying to finish it up. I can't amagin how many triggers there has to be for this map.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EviL on 2005-11-14 at 16:33:42
Ya, I know that this topic was old, but anyway bumping it up was what I was going to do if it wasn't here so.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Joshgt2 on 2005-11-14 at 16:39:21
Question... is there going to be all of the original proporties on the bourd to buy? Can you build houses and hotels on the proporties after you get all 3 of them?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EviL on 2005-11-14 at 16:41:53
Yes, it's like the real game happy.gif

Oo.EviL.oO has taken Legacy's spot on the map, so progress will finally be made.

That was from DevliN who did say that the time before I posted up my reply. I did that to put this Topic back in the beginning so everyone could see it.

QUOTE(FaZ- @ Mar 4 2005, 10:31 PM)
Ok-- double and triples are easy. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 are triples. For each of those doubles have a chance of occurring once.  2 and 12 are always doubles. 4 and 10 have three options (2/2 or 3/1 or 1/3 and 5/5 or 4/6 or 6/4) so randomize two switches at that deathcount and then either use doubles or not (or rerandomize). For 6 there are 5 options (1/5 or 2/4 or 3/3 or 4/2 or 5/1) So randomize 3 switches and use 4 as no effect, 1 as doubles, and 3 as rerandomizers. Simple enough.

Names FaZ-, not Taz-, and I'm not the mapmaker. I've simply considered the idea of a monopoly map way too much to talk about. No, I would not place a building next to each property due to the fact that there are 22 properties plus 4 railroads, leaving few buildings to use with other things. If there were that amount spare after all other touches, then yes I would. Also I think that turrets would be best used for houses and Refineries used as hotels.

Sounds pretty cool but don't overload it with trigs. Best of luck to you and evil cool1.gif

I would think that there are going to be tons of triggers in this map due to the fact that you have to buy and do everything else for one proporty at a time. Please do not tell us that you put music in the map as well. I think the original StarCraft gameplay music will be cool enough for the game and not cause it to lag... much. If that still works then it looks like the only music/sound we have is the unit speech. If that even causes a lag then muting that would be the way to go but please don't say there will be music in the map. A game like this should not have a bunch of lag in it if it is holding up to 6 players in it over battle.net...

I'd suggest fixing up the trains... they don't look too good on the minimap...

Maybe get the train from monopoly bound 2? That one looks good...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2005-11-15 at 00:00:41
We have 13 triggers per property (with 22 properties) and all of them will be basically the same, boring trigger. That's why we never finished this in the first place.

About the terrain: D_Scypher and I rushed the terrain so we could start working as soon as possible on the map. Corrections will be made once we get the rest of the important stuff done.

Also:
Someone had suggested that we make this like a StarCraft Monopoly taking place in the StarCraft universe. Those trains were supposed to be poorly-drawn Battlecruisers or Dropships.

Hes so cool...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2005-11-15 at 00:27:53
Yeah I'm sure EviL can handle it. This map is really nothing but copying triggers anyway. If I finish all 13 property triggers for Boardwalk, he'll know how to do them from then on. So I'm sure it will be easy.

Its mainly a lack of any motivation that stopped this project. EviL is pure motivation.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RedNara on 2005-11-15 at 00:28:52
i dont like starcraft monopoly well there is monopoly for anything... yea this does seems like a lot of reapting triggers.... and i mean a lot...

you guys have that random card thing also right? and hotel's and houses?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2005-11-15 at 00:37:05
Here are the triggers we're gonna have to do for each of the 22 properties:
- Displaying the price
- Display property info [When a player finally lands on a property, it displays the mortgage price, purchase price, rent cost, and the prices for houses and hotels in a "displayed text message."]
- Buying the property
- Buying a house [Must own all other properties with that color]
- Buying a hotel [Must own 4 houses on a property first]
- Landing on an unpurchased property
- Landing on a purchased property [Only 1 in the set, No houses]
- Landing on a purchased property [All properties in that set are owned, No houses]
- Landing on a purchased property [All properties in that set are owned, 1 house]
- Landing on a purchased property [All properties in that set are owned, 2 houses]
- Landing on a purchased property [All properties in that set are owned, 3 houses]
- Landing on a purchased property [All properties in that set are owned, 4 houses]
- Landing on a purchased property [All properties in that set are owned, 1 hotel]
- Mortgage the property

Then for the Railroads, we need:
- Displaying the price
- Display property info [When a player finally lands on a railroad, it displays the purchase price and the rent prices in a "displayed text message."]
- Buying the property
- Landing on an unpurchased railroad
- Landing on a purchased railroad [Only 1 railroad owned by that player]
- Landing on a purchased railroad [Only 2 railroads owned by that player]
- Landing on a purchased railroad [Only 3 railroads owned by that player]
- Landing on a purchased railroad [All 4 railroads owned by that player]
- Mortgage the railroad

And the Utilities:
- Displaying the price
- Display property info [When a player finally lands on a utility, it displays the purchase price and the tax prices in a "displayed text message."]
- Buying the utility
- Landing on an unpurchased utility
- Landing on a purchased utility [Only 1 utility owned by that player]
- Landing on a purchased utility [Both utilities owned by that player]
- Mortgage the railroad

And here is a list of all the purchasable properties on the map:

There is an option on the map that displays the property's information. I don't think we'll use too many strings for this to be an issue.

Don't be so sure of that, T-. For some reason, I feel motivated to complete this. The triggers aren't hard, its just that there are:
- 308 for the 22 properties
- 36 for the 4 railroads
- 14 for the 2 utilities
- a set of triggers for the Community Chest and Chance drawings (basically just a set of randomization triggers)
- a few "Jail" triggers [Go to jail, get out of jail, etc.]
- 1 income tax trigger
- 1 luxury tax trigger

I also need to make the triggers for my "Auction" capability where you can auction off your properties and the "Sell" triggers where you can sell your property to another player.

T-......omg, lol. You are supposed to keep them motivated in this...not to say We will never see this. We will see this because with what DevliN just said. wink.gif And if by some chance it doesn't get finished Dev might let somebody take their place to finish the map, someone he knows.
