This map sounds so cool. I cant wait till it comes out. No seriouslly its like taking a original fun puzzle game and make it into a SC game. Looks like a lot of hard triggers. gl on it. Also when you finish this map would you mind making Life the game. Life is such a fun fun fun game. Whoever makes that map should get 200 dollars

T-MaStAA always says that nothing to speical tongue.gif

btw. there is a dice system correct?

dont that be a lot of trigger also? making trigger for each and every single one of thoes location... you need 8 trigger for each location for dice i think.. maybe about 24 location you can walk on or so... or where your unit goes... so about 192 more trigger...

or is there some other way where you can make them move...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2005-11-16 at 04:29:58
There are two movement triggers. We figured that out when we first started the map. And the dice triggers are done as well (36 total).

So my estimation was wrong, its more like 15 or 16 triggers per purchasable property. Thankfully, they are triggers in which the location only changes, not the rest of the conditions/actions. Again, its all tedious.

36triggers for the dice system? Nice. I can see that begin correct for there are 36 combos for a 6-sided dice. Is there going to be a bidding system in this as well? I don't think it would be really nessesary but it would be something pretty cool.

Yes, there will be an auction system where players can bid on your property, a trade system where properties can be traded, and a buyback system where you can sell your property back to the bank.

Always so cynical, Mario. On an interesting side note, I actually did fix the property triggers for Mediterranean Avenue last night, so now the copy-fest can begin for those 300+ triggers.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind (considering I've had D_Scypher, RexyRex, LegacyWeapon, Bolt_Head, and now EviL all work on it).

You describe 300+ triggers for 22 properties? I fail to understand you system... I hope you intend to use a more efficant program for indentifying who has what, income tax? Lux tax can all be put into 2 triggers per property. Unless I fail to see your system... There is definitely a better way...

300+ for 22 is actually the most efficient way. Legacy, Bolt_Head, and I think so. It is like 15 triggers per property. Rather than saying we can do it better, find a better way for us to do it and then present it to us. Obviously this is the most efficient way that we've found otherwise we wouldn't be using it.

Luxury Tax is one square. Income Tax is one square. It has nothing to do with the properties. And it is 1 trigger per tax.

Those are alot of triggers once added up... wow. I don't see how you guys could pull though with something this big in size. What is the map size in bytes?

ahhh...monopoly....on sc....WWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW...tooo much....brain overheating...going to explode....cant wait to see this biggrin.gif hurry and finish!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2005-11-18 at 04:34:20
The map is 44 kb so far.

As I've been told by Bolt_Head, many triggers don't really add to the filesize that much.

Report, edit, etc...Posted by Volcove99 on 2005-11-18 at 15:05:34
Well, I'm glad to see you are keeping an open mind. Just try to finish it, we are all anxious for a game as fun as this.

Monopoly was my favorite board game since I was a kid, and it would be completely awesome to play it in SC format. Would be very fun biggrin.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2005-11-19 at 00:59:55
My main fear is the boredom factor. Since a regular Monopoly session could last hours in real life, it may take even longer on SC if people are slow in making decisions. We tried to remedy this by giving players only 1 minute to act, but even that has its major downsides.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RedNara on 2005-11-19 at 01:06:04
i agree killing is always needed... how about maybe you make a different monopoly.. man im sorry to bring it up right now.. but it might of been fun monopoly army version or soemthing.. where you command army and invade land XD but thats really hard and i bet it wont even work out with multi player that well...

maybe think of more new interesting idea to fit into your game...

btw I am not a moderator so I use the user posted image button.

That's more liek Risk (which iw as actually thinking of making after this, if all goes well with monopoly). I wasn't going to follow the boardgame persay, but I was going to have an invasion feature in it (if I ever do make it).
