Just to clear this up, Nintendo has made more money than Sony or Microsoft with the Gamecube. Sony and Microsoft actually lose money off the console, while nintendo actually made money and is still making money.

Min if you do not know the facts shut up. Nintendo has made the most money off thier console yes, but Sony is still making money off the PS2 crap its technology even outdates Nintendo's. Microsoft is the only that isnt making money but they arnt losing it either they are breaking even and they are getting a large fan base so they will make thier money come the Xbox 360.

I'd like to see where you get your information. Where I get mine shows that Sony leads in console and console game sales with Microsoft and Nintendo behind them.

In my opinion the Xbox 360 will sell the best, because playing a game by yourself becomes boring very quickly, and even bringing friends over to play becomes a hassle. Online is the way of the future. Bored? Press the X on the 360 controller to turn the xbox on (without getting up) and log on. Me, as the consumer, only buys games that look like I can play them for a while without becoming bored. I also know many people that do this as well. So in conclusion, I believe the 360 will sell the best, then PS3, then Revolution.

I know the Xbox360 will not sell as well as the PS3 because Sony has a higer reputation and has been making systems longer... Even though I will the the 360 over the PS3 because I think it is better doesn't mean the normal popularion will... Most people at my school have a PS2 and will be geting a PS3... Some have a PS2 and will get the 360... Others have an Xbox and will get the PS3...

It really doesn't matter in the end because PS2 will beat 360 in most systems sold but Xbox should have a comeback in the longrun...

BTW: 360 will have smother graphics than the PS3... I never said better just smother... If you look into it more the 360 will have something about unified pixels that makes it load faster while the PS3 uses normal pixils...

Now time to read the thread

Indeed, bringing friends over to play can be a hassle, thus, we have online play. biggrin.gif You can also turn the Xbox 360 on with a remote control. The remote is universal as well. But I think your conclusion is wrong. Althought, the Xbox 360 should and will sell better than the other systems, I think the Nintendo Revolution will sell better than the Play Station III. The reason is that they have at least over 2700 games just when it comes out. It also has a built in Wireless thingy that connects to the internet into a world wide network of Nintendo players. It can also download any game for the Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo Entertainment System and the original Nintendo Entertainment System for 2 dollars each, at least I think its 2 dollars. It can also use 2 types of controllers, the wireless ones that come with it, and the Game Cube controllers, if you own a Game Cube. And also, as people say Nintendo aims their systems for kids, think how many bratty little kids there are in North America, alone.

Actually, Nintendo's technology has suppassed Microsoft's and Sony's. They have the most powerfulest handheld system in the world. And their consoles have made tons of cash for them. Sony is still making money, not only off of their shitty Play Station, but with their televisions and MP3 players and crap, too. But making the Play Station III will cost them lots, and they are selling them for the same price as Play Station II when it came out, which is about 500 dollars. Xbox 360 is possiblely going to be sold for around three hundredish dollars. Microsoft will make loads of cash when it comes out. Its starting to develop a large fan-base.

Actually, they both are normal pixels. They are just making their pixels more unified, meaning they will have more colors produced at once. I don't know much about the Play Station III because I haven't looked into it much because I haven't look into it much, so I don't really know how their graphics will turn out.

Mario Sunshine was alittle too childish. Gamecube has the 2 best Horror games on it thus being Eternal Darkness and RE4 only other good horror game I have played is The Suffering on Xbox.
Yes, Mario Sunshine is very childish/kiddish. I also agree to the fact that GameCube as 2 of the best horror games. Personally, I don't think Eternal Darkness wasn't that scary though. My favourites are The Suffering and Resident Evil 4.

I am glad someone sees my way that the Revolution will outsell the PS3. Its online will be fully working when the Revolution comes out since its going to be enable this fall for the DS and tweaked from thier.

Chu:
Just because they lead doesn't mean they are making the most money. Also just b.c the console has had the most console game sells doesnt mean sony is making money off of that. Sony doesnt make any games. They have 2nd party developers but Sony only gets a small cut of the profits and the 3rd party titles since they run themselves they get the full profit. Sometimes 3rd party companys make an Exclusive title or Semi-Exclusive(Only Exclusive for a set period of time normally 6 months) either by choice or by purchase of a contract kinda like Rockstars 6 month semi-exclusive deal with Sony for GTA. GameCube has the most 1 million seller games and most of them are 1st Party so they get the full profit unlike Sony who just get console sells off of 3rd party games that normally suck nowadays.

Oddangel:
Thier reputation doesnt mean a thing. Nintendo had a high reputation once and look now it still has a high reputation and every hardcore game owns a Cube but no one else hardly ever touches it besides kids. Also Sony isnt hardly supporting thier PSP since it has had pathetic sells since its release. At E3 they said they made 400,000 dollars off the PSP that would mean they only sold around 10,000 PSP if that.

Yes, hopefully its online will be fully working by December 05, because I might be getting the DS at that time. But I will most certainly get the Xbox 360.

I agree with this. Sony only makes games with their shitty Play Station, Televisions, MP3 Players, and all their other crap, as I said before: "Sony is still making money, not only off of their shitty Play Station, but with their televisions and MP3 players and crap, too." It is true that Sony makes no games at all. They are only getting a porsion of the cash made from selling games.

I find the PSP completely useless. I mean, its like a piece of crap, to be exact. I think the Nintendo DS will own the PSP any day. Sony should just quit the gaming industry and go back to making cash through their gay televisions, MP3 players, and other shit. They are basicly wasting their cash. Maybe they should consider letting Microsoft and Nintendo take over the gaming industry.

Sony is making more money off their console than Nintendo and Microsoft does theirs respectably. The fact that the PS2 holds more in console sales also shows that they might lead in sales of games. Which is also true. The fact that both are true and have been for the majority of the time that Sony has been in the market tells me that they will lead in sales once all three consoles (360, PS3, Rev.) are out.

The reason Nintendo makes games is because it needs to to stay alive, it has nothing else to fall back on (Sony has it's electronics; Microsoft has it's operating system and games). Microsoft has always been in the business of making programs and games because it's all the same thing when you get down to the bare bones of it ... lines of code. So it stands to reason they would make their own games too.

I never ment to imply that Sony makes more money than their competitors, I just ment to answer the question "Which console will sell better?" Which will be the PS3.

Oh and a lot of you don't realize but even if Microsoft beats Nintendo and Sony in sales in the US, it won't matter to those companies. They hold the majority of the market in every other country while Microsoft is barely 3rd.

For example, so far this year Sony has 88.9% of total console sales, Nintendo has 10.3%, and Microsoft has less than .6% in Japan. That, being the home country of two of these consoles, is what matters most to Sony and Nintendo. I'm also pretty sure that they maintain a lot of sales in the US but they would be drastically less because of the X-box.

Also, I didn't include sales of PS One. The PS One alone is just behind the X-box. N64 is no longer made, so it wouldn't be in the current charts.

Old but still shows an accurate depiction of just how much Sony and Nintendo lead by :
http://www.megagames.com/news/html/console...esinjapan.shtml

I couldn't find an accurate up to date amont of sales for consoles in the US, but this is pretty much how it was for one week when Nintendo cut their prices before Sony and Microsoft. And Sony and Microsoft always cut their prices in response to Nintendo.

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page....me=ret&aid=2376

I have a lot of time on my hands? No, I just know whats going on. Plus that and google search works wonders on information gathering. I haven't been able to find sources to back this up, but I found a post that shows total console sales worldwide.

QUOTE
Sega Dreamcast: 10,600,000
Sony Playstation 2: 81,390,000
Microsoft Xbox: 19,900,000
Nintendo Gamecube: 18,030,000

Nintendo DS: 2,840,000
Sony PSP: 510,000

Again, I don't know what the sources for that info is, so it could be off.

EDIT: OK I do know that PS2 sales are over 70 million, because I remember reading about that in 2003. By then xbox has surpassed Gamecube in total sales (but Nintendo still is #2 in Japan).

Why don't you try keeping up with gaming news? The biggest discussions right now are centered around the 3 next generation consoles from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft. Nintendo Revolution, PS3, and Xbox 360 respectively are the 256bit systems that will be comming out end of this year and start of next and there are already a lineup of very nice games and features for them.

You people are morons. The average Price for a game with tax is around 53 dollars. It is only around 60 if you buy the special edition with extra crap which really aint worth it. Tell me a game that cost 70 or 80 dollars? You can't. Most computer games are actually cheaper and normally come out around 40 dollars since computers are cheaper to make games for. Oddangel your theory is flawed. They have not been making the best system actually they have always been behind and this will be the first time ever they are ahead in technology and that is gonna hurt thier cost of the machine so say those Asians that bought a PS2 for around 250 dollars I doubt they will buy a PS3 for 500 to 600 dollars just b.c they thought the PS2 was good. Thats like saying well McDonalds make good fries and if they make Steak Fries and they cost 3 dollars it doesnt mean every1 is gonna buy the steak fries just b.c thier normal fries were good. Next generation is not gonna be graphics but rather Games and Online. I have stated b4 that Sony hasnt fully announced thier online plans if they have any full fledged plans at this time. Nintendo has online plans and online is already enabled in some Asian countries for DS users yet the PSP is still in the dark with only a few games having online and the Browser support well not there. Microsoft has already established its online and has launch titles almost ready. Also Oddangel your theory is flawed b.c look at Nintendo well actually it still does make some the best systems but its support left mainly due to a system it helped build. The Playstation Disc attachment for the SNES abadoned later after Nintendo saw the poor support the Sega Saturn got. Sony saying hey we made this for you and we own the patent so we will just make it a full fledged console. As the old saying goes "Your own worst enemy is yourself."

It has backwards play and a world wide network of Nintendo players. You can also download any game for Nintendo 64, SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System), and NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), for 2 dollars each, at least I think it is 2 dollars. No it's not. If people know a company to make a better product or they prefer the products made by that company they will go out and buy future products from them even if they are more expensive. It's not all about cost, it's about reputation. And right now Sony has the reputation and the sales to show that they are #1. I buy certain products even if they cost 2 times more than their competitors based on reputation and friends opinions.

I remember when I was building my computer I told my friend I could something like 512mb of memory for $35. He asked me who it was made by, I can't remember the brand but he pointed out some flaws and problems they've had in the past with the memory they offer (they wouldn't work or stopped working over time due to some sort of flaw) and pointed me to Kingston telling me their products are much more reliable. I looked around at some reviews and noticed that a lot of people prefer Kingston over other brands also. So I payed $80 for a stick of 512mb memory instead of $35 based on the reputation of Kingston and his opinion.

Besides that, their PS3 will cost the same as the PS2 and the same as the PS1 on their launch dates. Which is $250 or was it $300? It was one of the two, I can't remember. All I know is that they will stay with the same price as the previous consoles when they came out. And I don't know why people think games will cost $80 because of blue-ray discs. Game prices didn't go up much when we switched from CD to DVD, why should it go up that drastically when we're going to the next generation of media aswell?

Heh, and any real Chef or Cook will tell you McDonalds doesn't make good fries. tongue.gif

Its not always about reputation. Nor is it always about cost. Most of it is highly on personal opinion. There are players who perfer systems over others, but thats because of thier personal opinion. It is true that reputation does matter, along with cost, too, but it is most personal opinion.

PS2 is, in my eyes, full of crap. Nintendo's Nintendo 64 is what persuaded Sony to follow. Microsoft came later.

No, Sony developed their own system after working with Nintendo. They were working with Nintendo to develop a "super-disc" or something like that. Then Nintendo decided that going to a disc would sacrafice the loading speed of cartridges (which are still probably faster than todays CD readers). Plus they didn't like Sony's prototype at the time and rejected it. Sony, with all the information gathered on this, decided to make their own system instead of waste everything they did developing it.

So it's Nintendo's fault Sony exists, but not as you said. Because N64 came out 2 years AFTER the Playstation.
