Here is a suggestion for deleting PM's.

Some people, like myself, receive on average about 60 PM's per month. Therefore we have around 120 messages stored in our Folders per month. This can quickly take up lots of space and reach the limit.
What I am doing right now is that I delete every PM that is over 1 month old. I keep them for such time in case something happens that I need to refer to one of them.

It would be nice if there was a feature that you could select to automatically delete the PM's in a specific folder(s) in X amount of days from it being sent or read.

BUG
When I check all of the (The box at the top, too) checkboxes in my inbox, then click delete...I magically have -4 messages. I think I had five messages, but I'm sure I had 4-7.

?
Emptying my inbox when it has -4 messages sets it to zero. (The invox also had no messages)

?
Since I can PM myself now, can I add myself to the contact list? Or is that just for debugging...

BUG
In the adding a contacts section, I typed in the name "i-dont-exist" and put in "lolol" for the group name. I got:
QUOTE
Query failed : SELECT b_mid FROM message_abook WHERE o_mid=3 AND b_mid =
(1064): You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1

BUG
When I go to notices, and then search.."Show: ...filter by Information" I get...
QUOTE
Query failed : select count(id) FROM message_notices n WHERE n.t_mid=3 AND accept = ''
(1054): Unknown column 'accept' in 'where clause'

Ew... icky bugs smile.gif.

Beer, that's another good suggestion. Keep them coming!

Anyways, tonight I'm going to work on the usercp/settings script and possibly the profiles script to give you guys something new. I'll deal with all this message stuff soon.

I got this error when trying to read a PM.

CODE
Parse error: parse error, unexpected '<' in /home/is047s3n/public_html/1337v5/core/parser.php(30) : regexp code on line 1

Fatal error: preg_replace(): Failed evaluating code: <b>THEN</b> in /home/is047s3n/public_html/1337v5/core/parser.php on line 30

Here's some of the PM stats:

X messages out of XX maximum

I see you can tell how many messages there are in the control panel, this needs to be updated.

With selected: Do move [FolderDropDown] [DoMoveButton or [DeleteButton]

A little redundant with the Do move, suggest removing the text and changing button to just "Move".

Besides chu's last post... I think I got them all.
The whole notice section needs to be redone, so I'm not counting that part.

If you try to empty a folder that has 0 messages in it, it gives you this message:

QUOTE
Script Failed... invalid user input... If post/get, crashing value: 3

Hmmm... That isn't controlled by the message center. The global code in index prevents some weird shit like modified variables in the url or weird post keys... Maybe I was just messing with that code at the time, but check and make sure you don't get this again. I didn't get it at all when emptying 0 message folders.

About Saved Drafts, when you go into to view one, it has the Save Draft button still. You can't save the current one if you edit it, but if you click the Save Draft button it creates a new one. How about a Save Draft button and a Save Changes button.

Saving a saved draft now saves the changes.
Is a save "new" draft really worthwhile?

No, thats what I does by default, I'm saying there should be a save changes button.

In all honesty, I don't even need drafts. I'm just trying to suggest something useful for them.

I don't need them either... I don't know who would... I was almost just going to skip the whole idea in of itself smile.gif.

Maybe another poll in the feedback forum? Who saves drafts?

I imagine it would be useful if you were periodically sending PM's or something to people. Just like every REPORT notification PM is based on the same setup, every PM you would make about a certain topic would be based off a draft you have already made.

But I still don't see who would have to use that sort of thing other than clan leaders, who would just post in their forums or website instead anyway and even then I doubt they would need to nor they would maintain a draft PM.

Suggestion....
Speaking of REPORT's, maybe the moderators get a special notice section? Like critical, clan, friendship, game, reports?

ADDITION:
Also, you can't delete notices or have them in any sort of list at all.
And the notice message (1 new notices:) doesn't go away. And it stopped listing them, too. smile.gif

ADDITION:
The default folders don't display a number when you give them names again.
Inbox()

?

ADDITION:
Nevermind, the 1 new notices: is a sync error from when you first tested it. wink.gif
But, seeing as I can't delete them or anything...ermm.gif

lol... yeah rexy, you got screwed when I sent you a notice without actually finishing the scripts surrounding it. I'll reset all your counts.

I haven't decided on how I'm handling the difference between things like being banned from the shoutbox vs your map was rejected. When I first started coding this, critical was any type of script generated notice from someone with power (dldb, admin, global).
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RexyRex on 2005-06-15 at 18:38:32
That sounds fine, but where would reports go?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by IsolatedPurity on 2005-06-15 at 18:43:01
Oh... mod reports...
That's being handled a completely different way inside a moderator script, probably be an accessible part of the admin control panel for everyone who has the permissions...

PM's / Notices are annoying. Inside this mod script, it'll tell you what reports are already dealt with, how they are dealt with, etc. If there's reports that haven't had someone make a decsision for, you'll get a message in the "new pm" box that there are X new reports.

1 new notices:

Clicking on "1 new notices:" takes me to the page where I can read them. However the notice on the top left does not dissapear until I click on "-> 1 new 'friends' type" and go to the friends section.

You can put about 75 characters into a message title, but it alwas seems to truncate it down to about 30.

Sorry if we're not supposed to post anything, I haven't been to this part of the forum in a while.
