Thats true, to an extent. I've known you, and you've known me for many years. You dont exactly need to see a picture of someone to know them, but its better to have the image in your mind I guess.

I think it's impersonnal. I mean, I know internet was made to keep your privacy; but when you've been chatting/cooperating with someone for several years, you want to have an idea how he looks like. Then you're either decieved or relieved.
Those who refrain to post pictures is either cuz they're ashamed of themselves or they just can't/don't have any.
