I used to be a server for the Sen Gaming Center... Then I lost my internet in my room.

Oh yeah.
And I guess gaming fourm isn't that active anymore. But that's only because Revelade left and doesn't post intresting stuff anymore.

Yeah that was kinda my question. But i guess they do deseve it because they have gained lots of respect around sen. Once again.. congrats and good luck.

What happend to cheeze?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2006-06-06 at 22:55:48
Nothing happened to Cheeze... I'm sure he has his personal reasons. My goal right now is to get more moderators on forums they actually want to read. Hopefully we can gain some... efficency. tongue.gif

Politics, shmolitics. This will serve to bolster some egos and images of self-importance while crushing people's dreams. It's good to know that the map making spirit has found its way into even IP. I seem to recall version 5's release date being the end of April, and now it's June. happy.gif

So, why is Syphon a moderator? It seems that I'm the only one that remembers when he was annoying. Oh well, maybe he's changed.

I've given up on having any hope that any of us "grunts" will ever get to have a say in choosing who runs the site we give life to.

One question Moose: who picks the moderators?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2006-06-06 at 23:15:31
Well, this time I posted up potential candidates and had the staff give their input on the members. Ultimately the choice is mine.

Syphon is an okay choice for moderating, I guess.. but since when did he post in the games section?

Nah, I couldn't possibly love myself more.

And I used to be pretty annoying to everyone, but I mellowed out. Some people still can't stand me, but to each his own.

Unfortenately sitting on your ass for 2 years here doesn't promote you to any higher purposes. But I still don't really know how Mods are actually chosen. There's some guidelines in that "Staff" thing. But I've rarely seen people been chosen off that. It seems more like a Hat Pick.

I stand you. <3

You get promoted to higher purposes by being put on the big scale of awesomeness. It's basically your following of the rules, your activity, and your dedication to professionalism.

I suppose there's little to no chance of me making into the "winners circle", huh? I'm getting kinda lonely.

Don't worry, I see alot of people that I think should have moderator oppetunitys, some people I even think will be a better working member, but what the hell... Let Moose do what he thinks is good for SEN.

It's not that I actually care about not being able to make decisions, but rather I believe that too many of the admin, mods, etc. have "I'm right and you're just a dumb-ass" syndrome. I rarely seem them so much as listen to suggestions.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Choerdius on 2006-06-07 at 22:43:52
I guess they just feel more superior to regular members. Well, they are technically more superior then any regular member.

Why can't mods/staff be treated the same as members? Do you like get a special benefit when you become part of the staff?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2006-06-08 at 02:02:45
Felagund, I read most, if not all of the suggestions that I recieve through PM or are posted in the Feedback forum. Whether or not I actually respond or how I respond varies... but I do listen. I keep saying this because its true: we work for the site, not for you.

As for how staff is chosen... meh. Lately I just feel like taking some hiring and policy risks and being open to changing things back if they don't work out better.

But, yeah, sometimes power does get to our heads... we are people, after all. If I told you the power never got to my head that would be a blatant lie. I try to keep it to a minimum among myself and the other staff.

well you see... Cheeze is busy now a days and promoting me to a tutorial keeper would be awsome.. it's not a mod or anything smile.gif i just want to help out and there could so be two smile.gif.

Before you become a member of the staff, you might want to follow the rules, and read the FAQ, which clearly states that asking to be a part of the staff won't help you, only make things worse mellow.gif

Being a Tutorial Keeper would also require nearly-perfect grammar. tongue.gif

The Tutorial Keeper sounds fun. Although I have pretty good grammar, I'm not even going to ask to be. Seriously, I just joined this site and have already made atleast 2-3 people feel good about theirselves.

Choerdius, you've done nothing but copy and paste. And judging from a post that you've actually made:
http://www.staredit.net/index.php?showtopi...ndpost&p=502521

I doubt you have "(a) pretty good grammar".
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Merrell on 2006-06-08 at 21:28:45
Yep. Any of his lengthy posts are most likely copy/pasted. I was getting suspicious, so I copied and pasted one of them into Google. Hey look, that guy must work for www.msnbc.com! I then found like 5 other, that's when I told Cheeze..

Sylence was doing it not long ago too, but I think he ran off again embarrassed after I told CaptainWill tongue.gif.

I have a feeling a good part of the moderation doesn't really like me.

There's not really a professional system of granting moderation powers, just a sort of popularity contest.
