Allow players to add as many obstacles as they want; it's a huge map, anyways.

I still think you should give people 1 square each and limit them that way. Maybe have a limit of 5 Levels each instead of letting them have as many as they want. That way no one will have the map for too long and no one will try and place 100 levels in to get their name recognised.

When will this start...if ever?

You should make it so that people have to follow certain triggering directions so that if needed you can change the order of levels so it flows smooth with the difficulty(ie. level 1 easy and level 2 insain is a bad idea tongue.gif ). Or another cool idea would be to randomize the level order so that each time you play you get different levels. smile.gif (1 switch for each level would allow about 256 levels if you play it smart smile.gif )

Also, you should just have like 10 different level styles to choose from with preset locations so that there aren't location limitations. Map size could then be 64x64 for map size. This way, there will be plenty of locations and space left over for those really weird levels tongue.gif .

I'm all for the "level 1 by: Minimoose" idea.

You should send it to people in a zip with the directions.

Sounds? I vote like 3 sounds that you can use. I also vote no backround music or sen theme.

Banner? Life Giver? The works?

How many players?

Map tileset?

Zergling? Why not Devouring One. Devouring One is more common in bounding than Zergling.

No sprites.

Deffinatly only use air units as the explosions(that should be a law, because ground units alter bounding movement paths...)

As for order of people that get to add levels, you should do a sign up list on page 1 of this thread,(Add me to the list) and go in order, 1 level at a time. If people stop signing up, you just reapeat the list for the people that want to add more than one level.

Time allowed. 3 days. Some people have school you know. tongue.gif

Thats my imput.(subject to change tongue.gif )

Guys, remember, it's annoying to make a level with one location. You will have to make the trigger so long that it will probably take a lot of trigger blocks (you will have a lot of "give unit" and "center location"). Just make everybody reuse 10 locations (10 explosions max).

And I'm for the idea of a person per level. Each person must tell the approximate level of difficulty at what they want to make their level. So I would like to make a 7/10 difficulty level, so place me near the end.

This sounds like a neat idea.

What about editors? And who will set up the system of how it works? Making a bound all completely random based on what everyone wants to do would make it random and confusing.

EDIT:
QUOTE

Uh, if you played it smart you could get 256 levels with 8 switches.

EDIT:
Ooh. Also you could make it so each quilt peice has a different colored background so that it looks more like a quilt!
What tileset will it be on? I got some "palettes" for some of them to find colors, if you want.

I've always wanted to do something like this. xD

I say leave it as 64 people working on a 128x128 map. The more people we get on one map, the more likely the bounds will be repetitive. And for those actually participating in this, make some original stuff.

As for locations and such, if you make a generic set of locations, that should work.
(Like 1x1, 2x2, 1x4, so on and so forth)
Also using one set deathcounter for levels and lives or something would help.

Uh, quick question: Are triggers counted within the string limit? If not, we're not looking at serious limits for locations here.

If so, I could do it with two locations. Probably.

I still vote level up style. Reuse the same bounding area for every level.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by O)FaRTy1billion on 2006-09-07 at 22:42:18
Then it is not a quilt.

No. Level-Up like farty said wouldnt make it a quilt. And i think regular bounding is funner.

I guess, but it would be pretty sweet to have more than 64 levels! that would be nuts.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by fritfrat(U) on 2006-09-09 at 11:20:50
5 levels would be a good limit.

And zergling is by far used more often than devouring ones, unless you're playing a total nub bound.

And we don't need switches for levels.. just have a burrowed unit at the start of each one.

Lets just have moose read all our ideas so far and make the first obstacle(s), and we can just follow his example completely with the next levels.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by JaFF on 2006-09-09 at 12:01:10
Only thing that I don't agree with is the level limit per person. 5 is too much.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Dragoon-elf on 2006-09-09 at 17:30:48
Yeah sounds like an excellent idea and I will be a participate if you want...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EcHo on 2006-09-09 at 19:38:27
Okay lets start this then but it was Mini_Moose_2707's idea
So if he allows this then dat would be cool

Lets make an offical list so there wouldnt be multiple different kinds of the same map. So starting now you first post = The first to choose the Obstacle # they want to be.

But we would need someone to make a background theme first. So before anything why wont everyone make a background we can put. Like a contest to see which is the best.

The levels don't necessarily have to be in order of difficulty. There can just be more lives rewarded for beating the harder ones. Of course if a whole crapload of us think something is too hard, I'll tone it down.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CheeZe on 2006-09-09 at 20:27:26
Suggestions?!:

Moving locations is only ok if that location was in a bound before yours. This should be done if you know how to do this.

I don't think you have to limit themselves to a 8x8 (or whatever it was), just only be allowed to use that area. Or maybe that's what you meant and I got the wrong impression.

Limit one bound per person. Go through another cycle if you don't have enough levels.

I think it should use a score to keep track of what level. For each person, all of his triggers must contain a condition about the score being his level. This includes the setup of his bound and completion. I recommend everyone put in their own start and completion trigger (Creation and removal of all units associated with his own bound).

Basically, give everyone who is participating an assigned number. I think this feature will also allow people to go back to a level, enabling a level skip and completion counter. tongue.gif

Maybe after quilt bound, we can do the same style, but with my level-up random level choice style. If this quilt bound doesn't flop that is...(i hope it doesn't smile.gif )
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Dragoon-elf on 2006-09-10 at 00:37:08
I have to put in my opinion here...I think that if we do 128x128 it would be very cramped b/c a lot of SEN people want to participate. You would need the safe zones, the bounding zones, and the respond area...String limits would be hard to have a limit on the multitude of ppl that want to participate. I say make it a 256x256 and just do the terrain limits on the ammound of people you have wanting to participate. I agree with the ppl that want to do the harder bounds wait for the end...I do not agree on people doing more than 1 obstacle...that would be too stupid considering that everyone would do a lot of them. And the mission briefs should not be the people that did the most, but everyone....I think lvl up bound is stupid idea with this many people and that it isn't like a quilt like Moose wanted it...every idea is a good one though!!!!

I think 64 is enough.

Oh, and if you didn't understand my activity in this topic, I wanna be in it too. tongue.gif

Just put together a list of who wants to join and see what map size you need.
