If only I could get over to Devlin's house so I could yell at him as if he were at boot camp. "LET'S GO YOU LAZY S.O.B! MY GRAMA CAN MAP MAKE FASTER THAN THAT! MOVE MOVE MOVE! NOW DROP AND GIVE ME 20...triggers.."

Haha thanks for reviving the topic form Second Page Hell.

Actually at teh moment I'm trying to finish my entry for this month's map contest. Once I'm done with Helen Keller Robotic RPG, I swear I'll go back to Monopoly and actually spend some quality time on it. biggrin.gif

Haha sounds very interresting. Can't imagine what that will be like. I'm actually thinking about entering myself. But my chances of winning with the idea i have are slim.

Yeah at first I made some normal RPG-like map. But the more I thought of it, its not very complex and not very interesting. And then I figured I'd enter another Helen Keller map for the hell of it.

You MUST do the two dice seperatly though, yes it does make a difference, it changed the probability.

2 = 1 chance (1+1)
3 = 1 chance (2+1, 1+2)
4 = 3 chance (2+2,1+3, 3+1)
7 is the most probable, because it has 6+1, 5+2, 3+4, and then reversed.

What the hell are you talking about? Did you only read the first 2 pages and then reply? We've figured out the dice system over a year ago.

The two dice are separate. I have two sets of random switches representing each die. And then the roll is counterd as a death point for a certain unit. When two units have the same death count, its a "double" and you can roll again, etc.

Too bad Jello beat me to it - "Thanks for that tid bit of nothing."

Okay, so I finished all of the triggers that occur when you land on an unowned property, but now a new problem has come up. For some reason, the game will not allow any human player to control the main Terran Civilian that lets you choose what to do.

In other words, I can't roll the dice, buy properties, or even choose to end my turn because the computer wont give Player 1 the civilian via triggers. I don't know how this happened or what I changed in order to make the triggers not work all of a sudden. I've tried a few things with the conditions and such, but nothing seems to work. Perhaps it has to do with all the triggers I added?

Meh, I don't know.

EDIT:
And sorry for the double post, to all who care. I thought it would make an "ADDITION" thingy in my last post, but since its been 2 weeks since I last posted, perhaps it stops doing that after a while of no posting.

I started making a monopoly map... and then someone told me you were making 1... so now we are both making 1... and i'm not gonna stop making it so... GL... May the best monopoly map win!

sucks to be you... I have a fool-proof way of doing the triggering... i've already practically thought of how to do everything wink.gif... the only problem is it's going to take a lot of triggers sad.gif

Have fun with it. If you think there's competition, I pity you. I'm still going to work on this at my own pace.

And I've got the triggers down, I just hate copying the same ones over and over.

huh... strange... i used 3 random triggers total for both dice... then 1 trigger for each die determining which is being rolled... so 5 switches total for the dice ;-/

I included a minimap picture of my version ;P... the only problem is the colors on it aren't quite the same... so it looks better then the picture... but anyways it will just give you a general idea of what mine will look like smile.gif

Any more self promtion you'd like to add? I'm just wondering because you're the third or fourth person to come int this thread explaining that you have a Monopoly map as well and you've got screenshots to prove it. At least you didn't post the map like some others...

As for the dice, I have 3 per die. Basically we did the same thing except you reuse your 3 switches and I just made another set of 3. But my dice triggers work, so there's no need to compare. If yours work as well, great.

And I tried to contact you, but you didn't answered me. Also, last time I was in Exams sessions, that's why. Now I just restarted school and I don't have alots of homeworks and stuff so I have free times.

But seriously, if you want help, just tell me. wink.gif

Very cool. Well at the moment I'm seriously just trying to figure out how this bug developed in the first place. All I did was add more of the property triggers and then it happened. Maybe I have to go back and check the conditions or something... ugh...

EDIT:
I FIXED IT! Okay so production on Monopoly has resumed. My HK RoboRPG is about 90% done, so it wont be long until I'm fully devoted to Monopoly again. Basically when I get tired of working on HKRoboRPG, I work on Monopoly and vice versa. So it all works out. Yay!!!!!!!!!

I wasn't self promoting... i wuz just tellin' you that i am also making a monopoly map, cuz i thought you would like to know... and i showed you the picture, because i thought you'd like to know wut you're up against... and besides that i saw 2 pictures of yours on here.

Post the map? Wahhhhhhh? So what... they actually put a downloadable thing of their monopoly map on here? LMFAO

Oh and yes, my dice do work, but i'm still trying to fix a few bugs... for example when multiple people are in the game and i roll... it's currently creating units for each player in the game for the dice... i need to fix this... it shouldn't be hard to do... and i don't even know why i created the units for current player anyways... when i started triggering it... i meant to create the units for player 8... which is what i think i'm going to do in the end... i'll just go back and switch it all over to work for player 8 owning the units. Also it's leting me roll over and over... it keeps giving me a dark temp and the roll function area... and it shouldn't do that... i haven't even added the trigs to create a dark temp there if the dice are doubles yet... so no clue why this is happening, but it's an easy fix... all i have to do is add another switch into there... and boom... works perfectly!

Oh... and i just noticed... i now have 20 minerals... as of before this post... that's strange... i wonder where they came from! LOL

ADDITION:
Holy crap... i just noticed... you get minerals for posting! dammmmmmmmn that's so sweet! i need to start posting stuff on this site more often LOL

ADDITION:
Yo... just wondering devlin, but have you thought about creating triggers to skip a players turn?

lets say there's a Player 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8

you probably have it set up to go from 1 player to the next like i do...

when player 3 ends their turn it would go to player 4...

If you haven't thought of this yet, then you're going to have to add triggers so that if player 4 isn't in the game, it automatically skips ahead to player 5.

ADDITION:
By the way you're going to need to have the following.

Ability to trade money with players for things.
Ability to trade get out of jail free cards.
Ability to bid for properties.

ADDITION:
Is your map going to be starcraft based then? like starcraft named spots, starcraft sounds, excetra? If so, can you call your map either StarOpoly or Starcraft Monopoly? I was thinking about naming mine either Monopoly or Classic Monopoly

ADDITION:
If you can't figure out how to do the bidding or trading of minerals...

I already have them figured out...

I have it set so you can actually bid or trade between 0 and 999999, but I probably should lower it to 99999.

999999 = about 2000 $500 bills

99999 = about 200 $500 bills

9999 = about 20 $500 bills

I think 2000 isn't even possible... 200 isn't even possible... and 20 is probably more then possible.

If you're wondering how I can do between 0 and 999999 or w/e i choose it to be in the end as the highest amount possible... without skipping a single number.
I'm willing to sell you my way of doing it for 2200 minerals on here! ;P
I need some sexy effects on here! ;P

I know he knows what he's doing... I was just seeing if he forgot anything to try and help him out ;P

I don't post my own thread, because unlike him I don't need help from people for figuring out any of my triggers... also I don't like it when people give me ideas, because I want to make my map how I want it... I'd rather have a map that I'd like to play instead of a map that other people will like and want to played but that I hate.

Thanx for wishin me luck!

I'm currently working on the map... and it will probably be done in quite a bit less than a year unlike Devlins ;-/

And yes I am going to finish it no matter what... when I run into a problem I fix it! I don't give up on my maps. The only time I quit making a map is if I think that the map sucks and that it's a stupid idea... I started making a Hangman Bound ages ago... I thought it was a good idea, the only problem is the bad part is that the questions and answers are always the same... and the map wasn't turning out that great anyways... so I quit making it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2006-09-21 at 23:53:49
Actually the point of this thread was to announce that I was making Monopoly. It also allowed people to respond asking about the map itself and what features it would have.

And you say "unlike [me] [you] don't need help from people for figuring out any of my triggers," yet the only time I've asked for help is when I wanted to find a more efficient way of doing some triggers. I've never asked how to do anything on this map (with the exception of getting help from RexyRex in the beginning because she knew grids well).

This took over a year because I had more important things to do like finish school and earn money. Now I've got a more flexible schedule.
