Are you serious? Doesnt matter about age.

Ever heard of Chris? Yea he was here when the site just got made and was really close to yoshi, But he got banned because of a 100% Warn lvl. History shouldnt matter and it doesnt. Its not like its a protection ring. -.-

I never said anything about how long he was on the site. Reread what I wrote before you jump to drastic meaures... tongue.gif WHat I said was, he has a history at SeN. As in, he has been warned and suspended a few times before. Nothing about how long he was here for.

And, yes, I remember Chris/Shadow_Paladin. He is gone now. tongue.gif

Oh yea? I'd like to see yoshi return and end up banning Moose, IP, or Tazzy.

QUOTE(Felagund @ Feb 1 2006, 04:20 PM)
I am writing this for the public so that it may hear my opinion. Rather, it is not just my opinion, but a common opinion accepted and felt by many.

The quality and grandeur of StarEdit Network has greatly declined since it became a mainstream site. It is rife with technical difficulties, but the true problem lays with the influx of newcomers. It has lost much of the sense of community that it once had, and the level of immaturity has become mind-boggling. No longer is it fun to hold a debate in Serious Discussion, nor is it entertaining to talk about anything light-hearted. Indeed, even the roots of SEN have become corrupt, with "members" left and right presenting what they think about maps without saying why. Every post I make is made now with a wearied resignation that there will be flaming.

If moderators close this or delete this, then rest assured that there is no hope.

Well what can you expect from a site. I know there are some problems, but It's a forum site that has seemed to turn popular. I'm sure, minimoose and the mods are trying to make it a better place. i know for sure Mill is trying, within his limits of course. I'm sure they are also focusing on v5, i hope. But There will be improvments.

It's not like he'd do it out of the blue. They'd have to be retards or something, Chris obviously did something wrong so he was banned.

Well, Chris was gone for a few months than he (or someone using his account) came back and posted porn links. He was only suspended, never banned. I like Shadow_Paladin and I'd actually enjoy seeing him return.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RexyRex on 2006-02-04 at 17:00:01
How would he return? He's banned.
Unless the account was only deleted and he never made another one. ermm.gif

(seeing as this made a new page, the subject is Chris/Shadow_Paladin)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-02-04 at 17:05:20
So why exactly is he unregistered?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RexyRex on 2006-02-04 at 17:07:46
When an account is deleted, all posts show up with "Unregistered" under the username.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-02-04 at 17:30:12
Errm, I was replying to Moose who said the account was suspended.

But okay, thanks.

I've skimmed most of the replies, and I've seen some i'd like to comment on (General Ideas, I have using quotes):
First: Punishment should be visible, maybe even warn levels. If people learn that you mean buisness, then they'll behave. It's kept me in line, at least here.
Two: It really sucks to be banned from even Viewing a website, (I got banend from Stringhold-knights.com, ticked off a 60 year old admin because he thought the word "Jerk" was offensive. If you think SEN cenoring is bad, join Stringhold-knights.com and see how bad their censors are.) I can't even view information of SHK i'd like to see.
3: Respect. If older members shows respect, and they get it in return, everyone is happy.
4: Troublemakers, every website has a couple (*wink wink nudge nudge devilesk* laugh.gif jking) but there's a difference between troublemakers who cause comotion, and those who cross the line. On pso-u.com, Admins and members get in fights every day. I've insulted people, and gotten replies in kind. But then again, both of the Admins are people who'd do a podcast every friday with things like "Don't play with your wang" blink.gif )
5: Newbie contests are not a bad idea, but it could be tweaked. How about submitting maps to be rated by people instead of judged against other maps?

My two cents.

I'm all for more agressive banning practices. Look how long Yae and Ihatett lasted.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Syphon on 2006-02-06 at 18:25:54
Yae lasted 3 days, tops.

Before being IPBanned?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-02-06 at 19:22:57
He lasted longer than 3 days. He complied about 1200 posts in the Null before he was banned, from what I remember.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Doodan on 2006-02-06 at 19:29:34
For a few months, he hovered just below committing a ban-worthy offense. But one night, he started spamming his ugly picture as well as a pic of his middle finger all over the place and he got the axe for it.

That night will go down in SEN history.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Syphon on 2006-02-06 at 19:48:20
It already has. And accumulating 1200 posts in null isn't a large task.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-02-06 at 19:54:15
It's not a 3 day thing.

I joined the site back in "the peak years", as you people call it, but I didn't post much so many of you may not know me. In my opinion, the recent dip in quality was due to a lack of caring. There's so much that can be done to improve SEN, such as stricter policies, bringing the arcade back, more attention towards tournies, and although this may sound crazy, actually using SEN's channel "op sen". From what I can see, everyone has decided to abandon the channel, I haven't seen more than 3 ppl in the channel for a month now, and it appears map night is a thing of the past as well.

It's probably just because of school however. School does drain on one's leisurely time. I can't blame people for that. I can however blame people for blantantly and overly expressing their feelings about things that shouldn't be expressed about and in the wrong sections as well.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-02-07 at 11:35:42
What's wrong with giving website feedback in the Website Feedback, Bugs & Discussion forum?

Not to mention when Mill says SEN isn't dying, you guys praise him. It seems you people don't want to face the facts. Maybe SEN "dying" is a little too harsh of a term. It's declining, for a number of reasons, Starcraft related and member related, and there isn't much we can do about that.. Unless this becomes WorldEditor.Net biggrin.gif

I use the op SEN channel all the time. And around 6-7, there's usually plenty of people. Yesterday there was about 12-18 people in it, and it wasn't even map night.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Syphon on 2006-02-07 at 15:53:41
Same here. It's the only channel I ever use, I play StarCraft everyday.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-02-07 at 19:34:15
I'd have to disagree, I check the SEN channel from time to time, and in the last month, I've never seen it over 10 people. It's still a somewhat active channel, but the activity has gone down from before.
