Being a Tutorial Keeper would also require nearly-perfect grammar. tongue.gif

well, I could do that. Legacyweapon said i needed to improve and i think i did drasticlly. It is also a position and no one is perfect. It's not like i'm asking for mod. I can honestly say cheeze isn't perfect either. So i would just like a chance.

Asking lowers your chances. Seriously. dry.gif

I'm aware my chances are zero, but it doesn't stop me from whining.

Atleast I'm better at it than Snipe.

wink.gif. Hey not like i'm nagging. I'm simply asking. If i were to have one poll or somthing of the sort for it i wouldn't mind. I would than back off, having the oppinion of sen would at least make it fair smile.gif.

Actually, uh, the last rule here does, though.

I don't really see how hiring is a popularity contest. Either I hire you or I don't. It doesn't matter if you're popular. tongue.gif

I'm pretty sure they mean a popularity contest within the staff forum.

Okay, there's a whole lot of moderation shifting going around behind the scenes. Don't expect any updates to the first post. tongue.gif

I wonder if newly-hired staff are given any training of any sort before they are thrown into their roles? I imagine there's a little bit more to being a good moderator than is necessary to be an active and sensible member that is eligible for staff selection.

On the comment about staff selection being a popularity contest, I think it's probably anything but a popularity contest. The way you get picked is not by being popular, but because Moose likes your style and thinks you'll do a good job moderating (or whatever you're assigned to do).

And rather than asking to be a moderator or tutorial keeper or anything else, it'd be probably more useful to make helpful posts and submit good tutorials...

No, there is no formal "training". Like you said, we pick Staff members based on their attutude and how good of a job we'll think they do. If you are th kind of person that would require much training to become a moderator, you don't have much chance of getting appointed. We do give tips and advice to new Staff, however.

Mini Moose, will the Global Mod's each get a topic to controll, or they will stay "Global" ?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Snipe on 2006-06-09 at 10:55:26
global. You could always pm minimoose or an acually global mod that question to obtain a repsone quicker.

also in_a_biskit, i know it's not a populatity contest it just was misunderstood.

Global mods are assigned to some specific forums, but still have power over all the forums.

As for training, they get a PM from me explaining some general procedures and stuff. They're always able to ask questions in the Staff Forum.

Syphon is a good choice for the Game sub-forum. Good pick.
By the way, moderators don't see the Staff Forum, only Global Moderators.

Games isn't a subforum?

Well I can see the Staff forum, and I've seen alot of posts by non G-Mods or Admins in there.

Yeah, talking out of your ass isn't too smart if you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Well Syphon, enjoy your new powers...

POWER TRIP TIME, WOOT

Not after what happened last time I took a power trip. All those dancing and twirling colours, bleh. Wait, power?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Snipe on 2006-06-10 at 11:32:06
Wilhelm is such a rebel. I don't think their will be any power trip.. You can inferr that syphon was a good choice because moose picked him smile.gif. So that's where his oppinion was probably generated.
