I live in Spain, where Football (or Soccer as it's called in America) is the national sport, and most people follow it, including me. To people who say it's boring, I can certainly name sports which are more boring - Golf, Cycling... (I mean, what's the point watching Armstrong or Landis mount on a bike for 4 hours?) Anyway, people have different tastes. It seemed Spain could do a major issue in this World Cup, but once more we were kicked home before semifinals... BTW:

Greatest Surprise (Victory Dance for Togo)

You were surprised? What about Ronaldo's celebration in a match against Alavés? It was baptized as the "cockroach" and it annoyed the opponent's coach so badly he even insulted Real Madrid's players... Funny. biggrin.gif

AARGH! Korea lost against Sweden...

Stupid racist referee...

No offense, but you'd have never made it into semifinals four years ago without referee help. Firstly with Italy and then against Spain disgust.gif (f****ng Al-Gandhour...). You have little to complain if it's referee related... BTW, it was against Switzerland, not Sweden...

And related to the issue concerning Zidane and Materazzi, I suggest you play this:

Golf and cycling aren't sports, they're passtimes.

What's the point in watching two teams á 11 people running around after a ball in 90 minutes?

I don't think Tiger Woods or Armstrong would agree with you. Even billiards and driving could be considered sports, as they do appear on certain sport channels (some poor ones).

First of all, not ALL people run around the ball, that happens in rugby, not in soccer. And secondly, all sports could be made as simple as your description, not only soccer. For instance, Tennis would be two or four people smashing a ball with rackets over a net; Ice Hockey would be 10 players skating around a disk and trying to hit it with sticks and Basketball would be tall guys trying to drop a ball inside a ring 2 meters high. If you don't try to understand the essence of each sport, that's what'll you see (and surely golf and cycling are more entertaining than what I think)

I do understand the passion for soccer, I have been playing it since I was four years old and I am still going on with it (I am 16). But some doesn't understand the passion for others, so I gave him the same example as he did to us. Some like something, some don't, it's just common sense and everyone should know that.

Whats the point of watching people wearing so much armor that they can barely move try to run trough a field with a ball that you can't even buy in a sports store outside of the united states thinking they're all big and manly because when they get hit they get up after a few seconds, well no crap if you wear so much armor that can stop a Tomahawk missle.
