ok, I thoght about it long and hard for a full minute and came to the conclusion that you arent thinking big enough. Sure no one cut themselves(with what?) or hung themselves with their bed sheets, you know why? because if they gave up on living, all they had to do was stop working, or do something brash, and they would be shot/gassed. Commiting any of those things would be suicide, and dont tell me it never happened.

where do I start? how about on how clear it is to me now that my definition of emo/myself is very different from the rest of the world's idea of it. In Deltona, when we think emo, we dont think poser emo(a person you all can easily define).
The closest thing I can descirbe it to is a loner with friends. ugh, i guess i have to give you my life story to explain.
You see, in Deltona, minorities arent minorities. 90%(my rough estimate) of the white population has completly adopted the hip-hop/rap/total-scum culture(i was part of it, u'd fit right in I bet shmeeps). That alone is enough to make someone wanna burn a cross, so they do(half of whos left). The other half are emo. sure there's nerds/preps/jocks but they usually also fall into one the 3 previous superclasses. I think music really does HELP to define who we are.

Second, putting labels on people is something humans do naturally and its not a bad idea. In fact, the more labels you give someone, the more accurate you are at defining them. There might be 10 million gangsters out there, but there might be only a couple thousand gangster-nerds alive today(u ppl with rappers in ur sigs...).

You have no idea how wrong you are, as an emo, you are following countless others who label eachother as emo and love all the same crappy music. So if I am a gangster.. I'm an emo? How does that work? Music does not define us at all, I love rap, and hard rock, so what does that make me? Wait, so if we like rap, and we like starcraft? That makes us a gangster nerd?!

And that was the most disorgnized false defention of an Emo I've ever seen. Rap makes me an emo? So listening to Rage Against the Machine (Metal Rap) makes me cry a lot of and slit my wrists because my life is so terrible? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Occasionally, I feel emotions myself, such as happiness, anger, or sadness. Does this make me an emo? I read the first page, and then I skipped to here. Wilhelm's right, emo is just a label from some idiot teenagers. How many adults classify themselves as such? Those that do are probably losers The most I label myself is as a person, because that's who I am. Why do some people feel so insecure they have to give themselves an identity past what their parents named them? That speaks loads for the person's character.
