I use Sonar4. I hope to get Logic, Reason, or Cubix. I'm having trouble with Sample Tank right now, maybe I'll fix it and my music will sound better.
How do I get Sonar4? The only ones I see are Sonar 5+6 and they cost money
I used money to get Sonar4, and I wasn't aware 6 was out. I didn't bother with Sonar5 since it was the same thing except with less glitches.

Sorry, I don't care for the sound of your band Baal. To me, it sounds like another band with a person making weird noises for a vocal instead of singing.
Fair enough its personal prefernce, what I mainly like people to listen for is the instruments not so much vocals. (Just between you and me I would be happier if I could understand it too)
Yes, I did listen to the instruments as well, which were pretty good. Still, a bit grungy for my taste.

Anyway since I haven't posted anything in a while... Might as well post this little ditty I made this morning.

Oh my bad. Sorry about that. If you want me too I'll put my guitar up to a microphone and play something. Probably wouldn't sound good though
.
That's fine, infact that's what I do.

This is a rough take of something I did today. I'm still working out the bass line and drums.
Started out pretty cool, but then it got a little "busy."

Yeah, I'm probably gonna change the rhythm guitar to something else after eight repetitions, instead of twelve of the same thing. Plus I have a bass line to add then drums. But this is just part of a song.
Not bad, but I do see what you mean. Better change it after the 8th. If you imagine the song with drums and bass, it's not bad.
Here's some guitar stuff I've done during this summer. They're all just 1 guitar. I was too lazy to do any mixing. Also, they all sound a lot better live. When I record, I can't use ground shaking bass or earth shattering volume. My mic is on the verge of death.
This song is Late Life Redemption. Part of it is from an old song I did. I've only reused riffs from x song to y song about I think, 2 or 3 times. It's also seems a little repetitive because it's missing the lyrics.

This song is Horoscope. The first 15 or so sec needs to be clipped.
[attachmentid=20728]
This one doesn't have a name yet. It's use is to mainly keep the energy going in a line up. I got so many other songs, this will most likely be thrown away. There is one interesting thing about this song though. One hand strummed it normally, while the other hand just used one finger the entire time.

Life Redemption was pretty nice and mellow. Really enjoyed.
Horoscope sounded kinda like several bands that are popular now.
The unnamed one still needs some work.

That sounded really nice, I like your drums, the solo guitar was a bit so so with, but aye, it was nice actually!
As of late, I've been getting back with my roots. aka. I haven't really concentrated on what I'm making, and out spills goofy musical ditties that end abruptly.
[attachmentid=20922] I like this one most out of the four.
[attachmentid=20921] I've been told this sounds like it has bubbles in the background.
[attachmentid=20920] This one I was trying to do one of those 70's piano pieces like you have heard on Mr. Rogers neighborhood or something.
[attachmentid=20923] This one is just plain weird.
A MIDI bit of what I recently composed.
[attachmentid=21131]
I enjoyed Groovy Noodle.
Reminds me of banjo-kazooie somewhat.
[attachmentid=21152] This was something I posted a while back, but I edited the instruments. It's my take on a mad scientist. (Turn up your speakers as loud as possible and cackle to yourself while listening. Preferably in the rain.)
Hehe, I got a music-creating program called Finale NotePad, so soon you might see some of my noob compositions. Any tips for a beginner?
Most important thing is to start simple. That's a given. However, I find it incredibly annoying when a musician says, "Find your style and stick with it!" The best experimented with many sounds and styles. The band that is the best example is The Beatles. Though people say that they're another rock band, the truth is that they're considered to be of the Pop genre due to their variety. For instance, I generally compose songs that are classical with a fantasy twist, but I can only go so far with that. That's why I couldn't compose for four weeks, so I started
experimenting. The Beatles made hit after hit because they did not stick with only one genre, mood, or theme. They made songs like the Beach Boys, songs that made you feel like you were in France, Heavy rock, folk, etc. Basically, don't stick with one style and call it your own. You want to make something unique, but in every style imaginable.
And, just to add.
You should stick to making songs that sound the way you feel. I know that when I am in an angry mood, creating a song that shares my feelings comes naturally, where as making a happy song would be easier to make when I'm in a good mood. Also, there do exsist times when you have a creators block, and the best thing you can do is take your mind off the peice you are making for a while. That is the only way I have been able to create songs over 3 minutes. On the other side of the spectrum, there may come a time when you have it in your ability to create a lot of material all at one time, I suggest bringing something with you so you can write it down, because it is personally my worst experience when I have something in my head that sounds great, yet when I sit down to actually make it I can't remember it exactly how I like.
Thanks for the advice
I'll be practising for the meantime.
