Everyone's not equal... not because of mineral or post count... but because of the reputation you build while here. I could reset everyone's posts to 0... but that wouldn't stop people from knowing who has been on the site longer and etc. Post count is just a quick stat new people can look at and kind of figure who knows the site more.
I really want to see my reputation system get a spin on v5...QUOTE(IsolatedPurity @ Aug 9 2006, 07:57 PM)
x The forgot password function is still disabled. If anyone has password problems, email me at isolatedpurity [at] gmail [dot] com from the email address you signed up here. Include your member name (or even better, your member id if you know it) and I'll fix the problem.

no, dont disable it... make a form that emails you asking for a password recovery...... then run a check to see if the person's email is the same as the one they signed up with... may take some time in php, but it would save you a lot more overtime so u dont have to continuously check to see if its the right email.
have them include their member id, and a "tutorial" on how to find out.

Elites get reset to 1500, regulars to 300, etc...

It would be "unfair" to some people, and some people would start complaining, like if they were a member who had 299 posts and got reset to 0. It will probably not happen though, most likely
I think a regular with 1499 posts would feel the worst of all.

I suppose if you really wanted to, you could reset according to user group...
Elites get reset to 1500, regulars to 300, etc...

And basic members to 0? Then what about people who had 290+ ?
I still think it would be best if the administration would trust people and restore posts to what they had aproximately..
Senv5 will reset your post count anyways. In senv5, I don't believe I'm going to have some queer equations to determine what are posts and what are not. If you post a post in "what are you listening to", is it not a post? The current system is bogus and statistically incorrect in the profiles (with the math not adding up).
So as far as "omg, my posts"... it won't really matter too much because they will all get re-compiled, one way or the other, eventually (if senv5 ever launches).
If Senv5 will reset the post count sounds good enough for me.
I miss the ability to change my user title though.
What's going to happen to the topics that are currently on v5 when we transfer to there? Will topic 84 stay, or it will be replaced by v4's topic 84?
I'm pretty sure they're getting removed.
The v5 topics will be deleted, the v4 topics will be transferred.
Will bans also move over? Or will Kellimus and NR be able to post once again?
SO are you saying that all of th eposts in Miscillaneous will be counted as a post. If so, some poeple that play those games like myself would have huge amounts of posts!
He meant that he won't have that thing where posts have to be a certain length to be counted as a post. This doesn't mean forums that don't give posts in the first place will...
oh ok, that makes a little more sence I guess, like the mineral giving forums!
All posts will be counted... it's just post count won't mean as much anymore (as in... promotion to different user groups (if there are some)). It's a bogus system senv4 uses.
Bans won't carry over because it'll be a different system, I'm thinking, and transfering the data would be too much of a pain. So unless you've done something incredibly stupid (aka Zombie hacking into Moogle's account), you'd generally get a 2nd chance due to my laziness in manual data entry. I don't know about Kellimus and NR... that's up to the person who banned them, if they want to take the few seconds to re-ban them in v5.
And how about shorty? It has been banned twice, had like 10 different accounts, and coused lots of stupid things there. I don't really think it deserves a 3rd or so chance. In your place I wouyld ban it on SENv5 right now, as I've seen it using it.
I'm toying with the idea of a clean start for everyone.
Man ever since SEN got hack this place has gottin atroshoucios.
and when is the mapping contest gona begin moose?

It's not a bad idea. But shroty already got it's 2nd chance and failed to behave. Remeber the time when it came to feedback with proxy and started postiong bad images and ranting all over?
Oh and if we recall it's last account aka Sarah_K, you have given it 3rd chance after all. And yet again it didn't behave.
Does this person really deserves anything?

Does this mean 0 posts for everyone too?
0 Posts, 0 minerals, 0 warn... Reset join date?
I'm all for it. Because that'd still give me more posts than I already have.
Pardon for the stupid question (I'm lazy to read)... Will all the accounts be transferred to v5 or not ?
Sclean warn logs for all ? I think it's not bad - give everybody (with no exeptions) another chance, no matter how many chances they used up in v4. You never know when will things change.
Ya I think v5 Should be a new generation for SEN and everyone should start with new everything, new join dates are kinda odd though. It will look wierd, 6000 memebers joined on the same day!
