This suggested ( whether you wanted it to or not) that you weren't leaving; *you expect people to not assume and actually ask you (or someone you know closely)for the facts if you are leaving, when you could easily just say yes I am leaving or no I'm not in a topic that was made for discussion of this.
Though, I do know what your typing about people do assume a lot in these forums (especially in serious discussions), but vague posts that tilt towards one answer like the one I quoted will cause assumptions, so I don't think this is a very good example of assumptions made in this site (or maybe vague posts like that are everywhere and I don't see them)

Yay....there are people who simply can't leave for good. They're lurking, posting under different accounts, that sort of things. During the 5 years I've been in the SC community (CS, CC, SA, SME, AEN, SEN, CuC, AL, AlkS....) I've seen way too much so called "Final quits", "Goodbyes" and "I'm retiring" stuff not to know better...

And Yoshi's most right - again calling to my experience - in saying Felagund rushed about his leaving. It's a completely subjective thing when someone posts about someone else's leaving. Only a personal announcement can be considered valid in the case of retiring, nothing else can.
On a side note: all of the mature and considerate people around the community do take care of their stuff themselves and in the 'official' way.
