ya, choo choo does seem a little too happy for this game.


anyhow, i'm working on the VDC and TPT, but Jammed is being a pain in the ass tongue.gif j/k about some of his terrain i'm doing for im so it'll be a little delayed.

you're gonna have to be patient, at least a year before beta, and probly another year after that before final release

yes it is a long time, based on a conservative estimate. i have an extremely limited amount of time each day to work on this(about half an hour) and i was planning to get a fairly large chunk of my alpha testing done this summer but couldn't due to personal issues. I will be releasing test/demo maps during the map production period. also, you shouldn't forget that i have to do eight maps worth of semi-extended terraining(the main reason why i estimated beta to be a year).

Meh... a year. blink.gif You could at least get a helper to help with terrain or basic triggers while you work on the crouching, targeting and health systems... It'd go alot faster...

maybe for the beta phase, but i'm much too random with my ideas and triggering to have a helper during the alpha phase.

the most help i could get is for terrain, but i'm rather picky about stuff like that so i might bug the hell out of my terrainer.

what i do need help for is Doom 3 secrets, like hidden rooms and items. i need someone to help find them for me.

on some good news, i've managed to optimize my VCS triggers with binary cutoffs.

virtual combat system - the group of trigger systems that are responsible for combat.

the particular portion i optimized was the related to dealing out damage to enemies. in addition to a smaller trigger amount, i can actual put in damaga modifiers(although there won't be any in D3)

ADDITION:
ps saving 648 triggers is a HUGE deal because i have to do them all by hand(as in using Staredit's trigger editor) shocking.gif

it actually would... is it for trigedit or starforge triggers? cause trigedit doesn't work for me.

*sigh* binary cutoffs is the miracle drug for mapmaking. i love them! inlove.gif

Trigger Duplicator is its own program and doesnt work off of anything. You should try it, it rules. cool1.gif

No, that's a different one you are thinking of. This one is made with an interface like Uberation's.

okay, VCS demo is almost done, having slight trouble with the ammo portion of it though.

VCS is almost done. it won't showcase some of the more complex portions offered by the GBLC, but it'll give a brief look into how D3 combat(attacking) will work. i'll create another demo with player health and armor a little later. the final version will include the whole VCS.

well, i've never played quake 3, but it shouldn't be too hard. i could just reuse the base triggers. they're pretty flexible. even though i'm not going to include these, they can handle special attack bonuses, armor, misfire and a whole bunch of other things.

okay i've included three different types of reloading in the VCS demo.

1st method - Increment Reload:

The entirity of Quake 3 is mindless player against player deathmatching (it's great!).

I just thought it would be hard on the VHP system to have players with their own attack and ammo systems attacking other players with their own attack and ammo systems.

Then again, I don't know much about the VHP system tongue.gif .

hehe, i might just release a DM map of my own. people seem to like them, i think they're kinda stupid though. due to ineffective trigger systems in the past, this was impractical. but the current line of trigger systems could more than handle this.

concerning quake 3. virtual HP is easy to use(i dont use a secondary unit). the only problem is with the current targetting system(using a reticle) that people may not like. although, lethal showed me a special, highly effective kind of gunner system which people may prefer.
