I'm going to try and fix this hp computer. If it breaks down in the next month and becomes extremely expensive, i'm going to buy...well i am not sure. I don't know what to do. imacs aren't that great but the premiums are superb but expensive. Dells are alright but not the greatest. Gateway doesn't exist here. So far i have restored about half of my programs. I'm going to reinstall starcraft today and perhaps warcraft 3. By the way, does anyone have any idea how to fix something called generic host error? When it comes up, it deletes my sound mixer and doesn't allow me to click on any programs.

It doesnt seem like the error relates to the problem. The error you have would probobly have to do with explorer.exe's process, which handels the basic stuff like start menu, icons, and managmanet of the template other programs exist in. Scroll bars and such.

A host error would i believe have to do something with a host type of online thing. It would have to relate with some internet issue. When it comes up what are you doing specificly?

Usually it comes up when i go on morrowind, play itunes, or use microsoft word.

Re-install those specific programs, and let me know what happens.

Hey I have a virus that duplicates itself into any program I open, and doesnt allow me on the internet. Unless you open Task Manager and delete the dupelicate.

I've done so and the host error continues to come up. Even if i don't click a program, it comes up eventually.

I hate to say it but a virus, even if you may have deleted it, seems to have done something to your explorer's process. Atleast thats what im getting from this. And i dont think you want to re-format your hardrive and reinstall windows. =/

This all started when i dismantled my computer and put it back together to replace the coolant fan. If i restore to the time before the dismantaling, it works fine, but not all my programs up to date on it (alas)

Hmmm....all you did was replace a fan? Weird. Im honestly stumped there.

Downloading hacks for starcraft doesnt get you viruses... Trusting People PC online to NOT dl a virus while Limewire is running, thats how you get one.
