I am against same sex marriages but for gay adoption. It may seem hypocritical, but I'll explain. Marriage is something that the church does. Since the church does marriage, it should be able to to decide who can and can't marry. I am mostly for gay adoption, because the kids may be a little confused at first, but they won't turn gay. Wether someone is gay or not is decided by neurochemichal reactions. It is a genetic disorder a in many cases. It is possible to 'turn gay' if there is a shift in the way the brain reacts to the neurochemichal reactions or the chemichals react differently. Whether someone is gay is not decided by them, but by the way their brain functions, so gay parents would have little or no effect on the matter. Besides, not all 'gays' hate all 'straights', and not all 'straights' hate all 'gays'. I'm sure the gay parents would be proud of their child no matter what his/her sexual preferences are unless the kid turns out to be a bum or a loser (loser=drug abuser, no job, homeless, etc).
Ugh... the church DOES NOT do all marriages. The church is one way to get married, yes. But you can get married by someone else. The purpose of getting married is two-fold, legaly and psycologically.
Legally, someone who is married to someone else has certain rights, like visiting them if they are in critical condition. There are also economic reasons, like tax cuts and such.
Psycologically, some who is married to someone else feels somehow closer to them. It's the final step in a serious relationship.

Hm, we'd better void all those atheist, Buddhist, and Muslim marriages then. I guess people never knew how to marry a couple prior to Christianity. Those silly Romans, Chinese, and Native Americans probably didn't know what they were doing until the influence of Christianity.

7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are always imposed on the entire country. That's why we only have one religion in America.
America is not a theocrasy. It is a democrasy. Have you read the back of the money?
E pluribus union - One, out of many
We don't have a state religon, or a state language. We are literally one out of many.
Also, since marriage is a legal statis, and our nation is formed out of our right to worship as we please, you are forced to conced that marriage is not always by the church.
Uh, have you read any money lately? "In God we trust"? It sucks, but religion is very much a part of our government. If it wasn't, would George W. Bush be trying to ban gay marriage in the first place?
Ive been staying out of this topic for a while but I wish to say that everyone is supposed to have the same rights.. If a married couple get some legal rights like taxcuts (I dont know anything about how this is in america i just saw someone here say something about marriage and taxcuts) then a gay couple should be allowed to gain the same rights.
Also why would you ever ever care about what 2 people who dont affect you do?
i say thats not right, 2 guys and 2 girls dating each other?

ugh, God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve thats my opinion and thats it, end of story (for me)

What a familar argument, I think I just saw something like this a few pages back, as well as the rebuttal to it.

Well, your intitled to your opinion and I won't argue with it. But before you start mouthing off gay people, put yourself in their shoes. They can't control who they are attracted to and most of them really truely love their partners.
Please, for humanities sake, don't mouth off someone who is different form you.

Amen.. er.. Yea..
People really do need to put theirselves in gay peoples shoes. What if gay marriage was legalized and straight marriage wasnt..?
Why don't we just let them be happy? If you don't like them, just don't look at them!
It would be crappy to be adopted by one of these couples... I can't imagine how your life'd be...
Oh, yeah, you'd be ridiculed by people... And that would be it. Oh, and you might happen to turn out gay.
God, you guys talk about being gay as if it's a curse.
yea, whats so damn bad about being a gay anyway? Its not like it will eventually kill you.
but, what would you do if some gay is looking at you all the time, checking you out, speaking at you all the time,... that'd be creapy.
So tell 'em to knock it off, don't persecute them and restrict their rights.
In a way, homosexuality is natural. It's usually genetic. The chemichals in the brains of homosexulas react differently than heterosexuals. It is invouluntary. Being that it won't make the child homosexual, homosexuals should be allowed to adopt children.
i think its perfectly fine for them to get married, and adopt but to bann love of the same-sex thats just crual
you know whats funny they say it goes aginst the ten commandment........im not mutha :censored:ing cristian\catholic so shut the

up

Pretty soon nobody does anything but spreads the gay in people's asses and the whole population turns gay. The end of the human race is right around the corner. All because people allowed gay marriage...
With such compelling arguments, would the end of the human race be THAT MUCH of a problem?
I am without religion. I endorse the separation of Church and State. If you wanted my honest opinion, people in positions of power should not be allowed to subscribe to any of the brainwashing religious doghmas. That would probably solve a few problems, but I'm getting sidetracked.
Gay people. Straight People. Black People. White People.
All one race: all same biological form. If a Gay couple wants to adopt, why not? If a Gay Person wants (shock horror!!) the same rights and privillages that a straight person enjoys, why not? Seriously, why is it that Humans are some of the least Humane animals around? Do we just ALWAYS feel the need to subjugate and belittle one minority or another? Throughout history it's been the same story.
Some Hick (Likely Christian): OH NOES! HE IZ DIFERNT TOO ME! LETS THROE STONZ AT HIM!!!!11!1!1oneoneone!.
Hell, there's enough predjudice in the world. I was constantly experiencing it because I was a male with long hair. How about we just get rid of some of it? It's not hard is it? Here, I'll help you. Diehard Christian fanatics and homophobes repeat after me:
"Everyone is different. That is what makes life interesting. If their choices do not damage my chosen lifestyle, then I should not concern myself."
Peace all.
Why should anyone care who other people marry, jeez... and what's wrong with adoption? Some people can't have babies of their own because of some technicality and you're helping a kid.
I thought long and hard about this, like a week back, and here is what I have to say. First, same sex marrage is okay, but I don't think that children should be adopted from them, because then the child will be kinda F-ed up. I mean, think about it, if you went to school and they said give this to your dad, or mom, or whatever, which one do you give it to? Or what if your friends found out! BAM! You become a lozer in seconds! Plus, the influence of same sex marrage would be on the child, and I think we have enough gay people out there already!
That may be a harsh view, but I don't care as long as my neighbors aren't gay...
Oh my God! They might laugh at the poor kid for like a day. It's only because of intolerant people like those who would ban sam-sex marriage that you would even have to worry about that. It seems like the ban is just a way for people against gay marriage to save time - by banning it now, they won't have to take the time to teach their kids to be intolerant of homosexuals later.
I'm just saying that maybe we should introduce it slowly, that way same sex marrages don't affect other people! We have to let this become a natural thing, then we can let the next step fall into place! Time=Great Things!
Introduce the ban or the right? Because they already have the right under federal law. And how would you introduce it slowly, might I ask? It's a yes or no issue.
Homosexuality is natural. It's genetic. Unless a trait has been engineered into or out of a species, it's natural. So no matter how wrong you think it is, it's part of humanity. No matter how immoral your church says it is, your God chose to put homosexuals on the Earth (if you want to go the religious route).
I've looked at several of your arguements, and they all seem compelling. I am for same-sex marriages. A human is a human. The Christians are attempting to regain some of their former power in the secular world. That is a no-no in America. Therefore we have a thing called seperation of Church and State. I wish that all the people against gay marriages suddenly woke up gay one day. I wish all black haters woke up black one day. I wish the Muslim-haters woke up Muslim. Jebus, did we learn nothing from the Holocaust? Or the slaughtering of Jews in like 20 other cases? The world is sick of racist people. I swear, if one day we all woke up exactly the same, we'd still find people to persecute. If you're going to hate someone, don't hate them because of what they believe or are born like. Hate them for their actions. Hate Nazis because they killed some 50,000,000 people (Russians + Persecuted Peoples). Hate terrorists because they're sick mother-:censored:3rs. You see my point? As for gays in general... I couldn't care less. I couldn't care less wtf you do as long as it does not impose on my way of life. Anybody that thinks differently is probably racist. Racism is still one of the worst diseases in this world.
*Edit* Right now I'm reading To Kill a Mockingbird and listening to "Schindler's List" I don't even know why this thread exists. As far as I'm concerned if you're against this you're racist, if you're for it, then good for you.
