Hey all

just a thought... might this program help the production of a program. This is a thought. If it would it might help a LOT.

All we need is an exporter for scx files. And a tileset...

have a peek ppl

That's an interesting find. Its too bad the graphics are so horrible, though, from looking at the screenshots. If you were to be able to import StarCraft tilesets somehow and then export the completed "maps" as .scm or .scx files, it would be awesome. But I have no idea how to do that or if its possible because I know absolutely nothing about programming.

Oh it works great whith the tiles I have gotten for my editor.
It looks like an editor then. Nice find any way.

So what do you think? Is there a way to make it so that you can import SC tilesets and save them as StarCraft maps? Again, I know nothing of programming so I'm obliged to ask those who may know something about it. wink.gif

Well even with this program working somone needs to add support for sprites, and loads of others if they want to use it.

I only meant this might help Min and Ian with the tile editing of their projects.

I don't htink that this is a good nor a long term solution. For this to work anyway somone needs to get the source code of the producer and there permition. If this can work i think it would be great.

ADDITION:
After talking to the creater of this i got this reply.

"Conceivably, but the amount code of code Reptile has could be
reproduced in probably a day. And probably should be, given that it
was written years ago and is kinda crappy."

The program was written in Objective C for those who want to know.

Well i am still confuzzeled. Lests hope somone understands this better.

I didnt know so many people used Mac I mean I thought everyone used windows considering that I went to all my friends houses and they all had windows. I dont think they'll have a starforge mac due to the lack of mac users I think.

"I dont think they'll have a starforge mac due to the lack of mac users I think."

Well seeing as there is a lot of activity hee and there are 2 mabye 3 ports now in progress i don't think that you need to comment here. Good to see you are taking part but this sort of comment really is not helpfull at all.

If you want to join us happy mac users please get yourself a mac now or go away. Sorry i am very racist to this sort of comment. I don't think it is good to knock people for ther processor or operating system. In thi way i will not knock you to much.

I am usually a nice person. Peoplelike you really piss me off.

nono.gif If this is taken as flamming please don't take it that way, i am not i am just really pissed off, and i am sure other people are to.

You have my most sincere apologies, I didn't know that you were that strongly opposed to windows users etc. If I did I would have not have said anything. Well I'll be off I'm too poor to get myself another computer.

Hey look i don't want appoligies, nor do i want you to get yourself a new comp.

I was in a really grumpy mood then,(after just dropping MY mac onto solid concrete).

All i mean is that it is not always good to make that sort of comment.

No offence was entirely meant. happy.gif

I am not racist to windows computers.

Sorry

I kinda sound like mini don't i?

ADDITION:
In this case i think that is probably a bit weak all these projects, seeing as apple only make a mear 5% of computers. i doo see your point though

This started as a discussion on porting SF to Mac. Heimdal says he may get to it in December, but its unlikely. Then Min said he's working on an editor, and I think he's going to port his to Mac. At least that's what I hope.

He's posted a demo of "EverEdit" over at BlizzForums. The problem is, its not Mac compatible so I wasn't able to get a glimpse. Screenshots would be nice.

Come to think of it, I'm a bit confused, too. It is being ported to Mac, right?

Yeah, that's why I was confused. Is the editor for PC or Mac? And if its PC, will it be ported to Mac eventually, or is this just a huge tease for us Mac users (like SCM Draft... sad.gif)? I hope its the first option.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felino on 2006-10-03 at 02:54:12
well if it is in C++ it souldn't be that hard to port...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Cole on 2006-10-04 at 09:48:59
There will be a mac port. Once I get the Windows GUI done and most of the bugs out of my code.

It's also not in C++. It is in C#. C# requires .Net. .Net has been created on Linux and Mac. It's an open source(?) development called MONO.

In order to run my program on Mac or Linux you will need MONO. However in order to get my program to work with MONO I have to redo my enitre GUI with MONO's GUI rendering system called GTK#.

Other than redoing the GUI and going from SFMPQAPI to Stormlib there shouldn't be to much trouble. Although I can't say i'm to happy about Stormlib though.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felino on 2006-10-04 at 20:05:51
What is wrong with stormlib? Not saying i like it but. tongue.gif

ADDITION:
censored.gif mono for mac (ppc) is huge censored.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Cole on 2006-10-04 at 21:21:08
Isn't Mono with GTK# only like 40megs? Not that big, I dled it on a 56k.

Anyway the problem I have with Stormlib is I can't take a buffer and write it into the MPQ. I have to make it a file first. It's just an extra unnecessary step.
