Answer or do not answer the following in either incomplete or complete setences. Answers or non-answers may or may not be graded.

1. What is the purpose of SEN now? This means both for you, and what everyone else uses SEN for?

SEN is a discussion forum where many people seek help for making Starcraft maps&mods.

2. What do you think the purpose of SEN should be? I want this answer to be in no way affected what it is now.

A discussion forum and various other projects where many people can find help making Starcraft maps&mods.

2b. What is required (code, time, effort, policies, hiring, etc) is required to bring about such a function of SEN?

  • Getting SENv5 released
  • Getting the SEN Wiki online
  • Get the tutorials to stop sucking/merge them with the Wiki
  • Implement a tagging system in the DLDB

Give me an extension on the due date, I'll start this after I solve equally difficult global threats such as world hunger, AIDS, terrorism, energy crisis, etc.

1. Interesting. What do I think the purpose of SEN is? A mapping site for Starcraft maps, mostly UMS, to teach and influence others.

2. I believe that maps have come and gone, but we could move onto future things such as Warcraft map making or Half-Life or something. I still like to map for Starcraft, but it seems to me that most people are too concerned about how flashy their map is or trying to impress people, then to just come up with creative ideas, aka EGO.

3, er 2b. We could organize map teams and functions, but do so in a voluntary basis, not like a clan where you are FORCED to do things. I'm very open minded to literally anyone helping out. The only way for people to make maps based on ideas is for them to think and choose to do so, which is somethin beyond anyone's control.

I hardly see how SENv5 will do anything to improve the site besides personal functions. The real SEN is in the content. In fact, I can't think of anything really important coming out in v5 except a new interface. Inform me if I missed something obvious.

The biggest problem with v5 is that it is being treated as a magical solution, as if simply switching to v5 makes all the coding and infrastructure problems vanish.

True, but it will still help.
  • Make the SEN Wiki more integrated into the site.

Why do you think I'm hesitant to bring the Wiki back? I intend to have the v5 tutorials system render it obsolete. tongue.gif
