I don't think it will be the end of the world. At least not until alot more wars occur.

The guy who predicted 9/11 and hitler said the world will end at 2011, but really who believes that stuff? It'll be difficult for the world to end within a few years.

green_meklar, if something doesen't follow the laws of physics, it can mean two things:
1. If our laws are correct, the statement that doesen't obay them is false
2. Our laws of physics and our theory are wrong.

So don't give "it does not obay the laws of physics" stuff to us, we all know that there is a possibility that they are wrong. Possibility is not a fact.

I understand that. But think about it. Which am I supposed to believe, thousands of modern scientists with the most advanced instruments on Earth, or an ancient book? Doesn't take a genius (or an atheist) to figure this one out.

The science will be advancing until humans stop existing. You don't know what instruments or theories will be created in the future, and what wil lthey be able to explain and reveal.

Yes, but think about it, how likely is it that even more advanced instruments on and on and on into the future will someday turn right around and prove that a 2000-year-old book was right after all? Not too likely. We will discover many more things, true, but I think it makes sense to assume a lot more currently likely theories will be proved wrong than currently unlikely theories will be proved right.

Let's not argue about probability: the chances are not 0, that's all.

The chances of the world ending due to mayan numerology are not zero either. However both are extremely small, about equivalent to winning the lottery a few dozen times in a row, so for standard practical purposes I think we can pretty safely ignore them.

Only a very small amount of things (or nothing at all) can have a "0" percent chance. Saying that the chances aren't 0 isn't saying much. Wait in line behind mummies and ewoks roaming the Earth at night.
