BAboom?? No i dont think the earth is gonna pop like a balloon if you meant it literally.

Earth will just float out into space and slowly be deteriorated. We might bump into another planet or even see some aliens !

Acually the sun, assuming it will die out, will follow through all life of stars. (or so we think) once it burns out, it will swell up 50x times it size, consuming all of Murcury, Venus, Earth and Mars I beleive. The star will then kill all forms of life on those planets. This stage is called a Red Giant. See? I do listen in Science w00t.gif

Like millenium said. If we've done the bomb H (atomic bomb) we could easilly find a way of universe destruction.

Poor human. at least some of us do understand tongue.gif

Aliens have almost no chance of existing in our solar system, if they were somehow that far advanced into technology to come this far near our planet we would have been destroyed by aliens or at least have had contact with them.
If you do research on those books about aliens, 80% of people who claimed to have met an alien or saw an alien spacecraft had a mental disorder.

He never said that it's likely that there's intelligent extra-terrestial life in the solar system.

Even if we didn't know there was such a thing as a hypernova, it would still happen. The human mind doesn't just summon up explosions whenever it wants. I think that nukes have barely any destructive power at all, a medium sized asteroid does much more damage than a nuke.

But if we didnt know then we wouldnt be afraid right?
If we didnt know anything we wouldnt really care. If we all were dead... we wouldnt be having this topic. lol but we are not. We have brains that can be used to stop hypernovae or astroids, but the brain can also biuld up astroids and send them toward earth. The brain has two sides....

The msot destructive thing in the universe would be HUMANS

This is ebacuse we have the ability to learn how physics and chemistry work, thus each time enhancing our knowledge. We can implement calculus to create formulas that would help us use our scientific discoveries to learn even more.

With all this knowledge we can manipulate almost anything.

Who would've thought that fusing 2 atoms will create such inmense explosion that there is no current material which can withstand the inmense temperatures or pressure. This is why there still isn't a fusion bomb.

A Fusion bomb would be 1,000 times as powerful as a Fission bomb(Similar to what was dropped in hiroshima and Nagasaki)

If the Fission Bomb has a blast radius of about 3 miles imaging a blast radius of 3,000 miles. I could destroy the entire United States with just one bomb. And thats just by Fusing Hydrogen atoms. Imagine what would happen if we fused a much bigger atom like that of Plutonium. If we can control Fusion reaction we have a power that compares to that of any single start in the universe.

Imagine what other destructive discoveries might be discovered in the future.

Dude, do you know what a hydrogen bomb is?

1000 times power does not equal 1000 times more length.

There's a strong chance there is life in the oceans of Europa. This is NOT intelligent life though. Just like microbes and such. There mught even be life on Mars, though it is unlikely.

not likely in our solar system, but they prolly do exist.

Okay. But things will still be destroyed.
Let's say humans never existed. A volcano erupts. The lava hits some trees. The trees just sit there unaffected.
NO.
It doesn't matter whether we exist or not, those trees will still be destroyed.

Like EzDay said, the brain doesn't just, think up disasters causing them to happen.
Btw a fusion bomb does NOT have the power of a medium sized asteroid, also, we are not the most destructive things in the Universe, if you believe there are aliens, then you are hypocrite, aliens near us either have to be one celled, or more advanced than us for obvious reasons, making them stronger than us, so if you believe in aliens and you believe humans are the most powerfull, you are hypocrite.

They said there was water on Mars, that is a totally different thing.
QUOTE

There is going to be a eventually a limit on how strong we can make a bomb, and once we reach that limit, it still wont be as strong as a medium sized asteroid.

Btw ppl! If we cant even stop a supernova, what makes you think the.. "Human Mind" can stop a hypernova? What throw coke cans at it?

EDITS!
QUOTE

Are you on pot? Why would we EVER do that?
Btw like it says above, the human mind doesn't just THINK up disasters, they happen even if we don't know about them or not.
QUOTE

Bombs that can blow up a whole continent! Not as strong as a well endowed asteroid.

So it destroys light? Wrong. Black holes are stronger, I didn't know that so many people here underestimate the power of everything around them.

Notice to everyone, The human mind is not the most destructive thing ever to ever have been ever there.

Actually, you'd need like, 10 grams of anti particles to even do damage to humans. And 1 gram costs like, 25 billion dollars, not to mention the equipment required to handle it.

Depends on how you think about it. Human's are very destructive and earth is being it's on way destruction. So ya, the cause of all of those is from the human mind.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by E)s-Fury on 2005-02-28 at 22:41:44
My argument around the Human brain being the most destructive thing ever is that while it is capable of destructive things, it is also capable or remedying the damage.

In my opintion and apparently in some others, the most 'destructive' thing in this universe is time. There is nothing time cannot destroy.

actually it does destroy light.... it destroys all matter... anythign that exists it destroys... and so what if it is hella expensive and highly wastefull... it still can destroy anything.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Cnl.Fatso on 2005-02-28 at 23:09:44
I hold that the most destructive object in the Universe is the Universe itself. If the Universe did not exist, the stars would not exist and therefore would not explode (causing major harm to any lifeforms inhabiting that solar system, should it have one). If the Universe did not exist, humans would not exist, meaning no senseless--

*Universe is unmade*

Scratch that remark.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Rantent on 2005-03-01 at 03:40:58
Black holes have been theorized to rip hole in the universe, so wouldn't they be more powerfull in a way? My opinion is that gamma rays (and those rays that are smaller) are the most destroctive thing in the universe. They can travel through anything, millions travel through the earth a day, but we can never feel them, yet they are altering everything. Even if slightly, this cahnge is monumental when put into perspective how small they are. Hyernovas and supernovas focus there energy into gamma rays, which is why they are so destructive.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by High on 2005-03-01 at 05:27:02
Gamma rays can be stoped, thick walls of a very dence material will stop them.

But then agian on the scale of a hypernova it probally wouldnt help much.

Anyone heard the rumour about the "superbomb" what would destroy 1/3rd of the earths surface. Needs a rare isotope of some element to work.

Acaually taht was in a book, but it was a good book and probally possible

That isn't much compared to what a supernova can do. Also if we manage to wipe ourselves out, then whoever has belief that humans are most destructive are hypocrite again, because if we manage to wipe ourselves out by doing stupid destructive things, then we would wipe the most destructive thing out, thus making us the most helpfull thing in the Universe.
QUOTE

That doesn't make it stronger than a black hole.

P.S. Why does it seem so hard to grasp for some people that the human mind really can't do much at all? Is it because in school they taught you all that stuff about how you can make a difference or achieve anything and etc?

I think destructive is the wrong term for this, but meh. Here's what I think:

1st Place: Gravity itself
2nd Place: The Big Crunch (opposite of the big bang; a gravitational collapse of the universe into a singularity)
3rd Place: Black holes (the cumulative gravitational effects are likely more damaging than any single explosion)
4th Place: Hypernovae
5th Place: Supernovae
6th Place: Cosmic Rays (higher frequency than gamma rays, btw)
7th Place: Opposable Thumbs wink.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2005-03-02 at 01:24:13
Well, I can understand some logic behind saying the human mind is the most destructive.
First, it's the only thing known to actualy intentionally destroy for the sake of destroying.
Secondly, if it had the power to cause amounts of energy released in super novas to be, well, released, then it would happen all the time.

I still say it could be a plethora of things though.
Time, laws, human mind, gravity, universe, force, energy, black holes, hypernovas...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by brutetal on 2005-03-02 at 02:14:47
I think whats destructive is the Halo Installations!!! And other weapons that go on a galatic scale of destruction! Now those are vey powerful! and should be banned!!! And I like to make useless posts on such weird topics!!!
