Doesn't work. You can't restore buildings to a movable state, even when lifted off.

you all just will have to wait, I'm working on a map that does it, but I cannot tell my secrets (Just figured it out)! It is really complicated, so Good luck trying to crack me to ask for it! Hmm, how should I make the invisible flying bombing system thing... The map is really funny, a CC is flying around (Unseen by everyone but the owner) and when it lands, everything around it EXPLODES!! It is like, armagedon to those who diserve... I would beware on playing my maps...

Sweet. I can't wait to see it, man! New tricks like that are a rare and welcome sight.

Ah, nice to see you here Nozomu, nice map indeed. It's great that you are attempting to break a tired trend in an old abused genre of mapping. I, too have tried to invent new styles in maps such as Cats & Mice and Tux with his Trigger Happy D as well... Welcome to the site I guess, and hope you keep on mapping. Anyway, how long did it take you to make this map?

The first version took like 6 hours all in one night. I had to work at 5 the next morning so I just figured I'd finish up and head to work. It took me like 4 more hours to fix the first 100 bugs that caused a crash, and another 2 to snag the last 3 or 4. The original terrain wasn't nearly as nice and clean, either. I spent probably an hour in StarForge making the terrain clean. The cool part is that the edges of the walls that come to points are actually impossible in StarEdit. They're not a natural pattern, and can only look like that if edited tile-by-tile, which, if you're a map freak like me, is just about the coolest thing ever smile.gif. I'd say it took about 15 hours total, spread out over the last 3 months.

It still has 2 bugs, and only one is fixable. I forgot to turn Random Start Locations back on (I had it off for testing) in the Forces dialogue before I had submitted it to StarCraft.org and distributed it. I guess if I ever do another version I'll fix that. The unfixable bug occurs when a player moves a cloaked High Templar. About one out of every 200 times you move a cloaked High Templar the game will crash for the player that owns it and any player looking at it at the time. It has to do with the messed up way they move when reenabled. BattleCruisers are like 100 times more likely to cause this crash when reenabled, by the way, and they move crazily, too.

I would never have made a Madness map in my life if I wasn't struck by the cool concept of using the Observers to control detection against cloaked units. I dislike all Madness maps, and this is no exception. But I couldn't pass a great idea like that one up.

Soon enough, I won't have to. So just tell me(us).

Anyway, there are ways to control buildings that everyone here should know about already (Yes...) Such as the Drone Technique! That is all I do for zerg! You cloak a drone, during the map, and then build. The buildings come out nice and crispy gone! Well, after I started playing around with TONS of triggers, it makes thihs really funny things where things just start to disappear (Sorry terrain lovers, but you have to keep things on the ground)! Well, anyway, now I can cloak zerg buildings without the drones! TONS of triggers/changing! I will release a copy once I make like, every map with cool things! MUHAHAHAHHAH!!

Again, good luck trying to crack me open!

Likely a lie. If you cannot provide a screenshot, you will have been subject to giving out false information. puke.gif fear.gif

I mean everything without the drone. tongue.gif

Or maybe if I give out a screen shot all you will see is nothing, because EVERYTHING IS CLOAKED!!! Also, I do have the triggers! It is kind of like saying this:

I don't want people to remake my map and gay it up, so I better just not let them figure out how I did it!

That is why I can't exactly give out the trigger...you just wait...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2004-03-30 at 19:51:14
You can still make out vague outlines of units that are cloaked. People here wouldn't remake your map and gay it up anyway. Besides, once you release the map, its only a matter of time until someone gets it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by flaming_X on 2004-03-30 at 19:58:50
Well, I don't think there would be much too see, besides, you would all think I was lieing and using a bunch of ghosts or something, or doing the zerg thing! LOL, that's what I should do! Show you something everyone can do! That would be funny! Well, I will release it, but I bet you can't solve it (And if you can't, what are the chances that anyone else will? It is that complicated! Thank you for the low attention span I got, and yet enought to get into honors programs! GO ME!

Select it and save a screenshot. If you cannot save one, you're simply lying.

lol, fine, but give me time. I have a big error going on right now that causes it to screw up my computer. I have an idea what it is, but give me some time! Then you see the screen shot, k?

Also, I can't take a screen shot of the map making program, because all units are created, not set down. You understand, I hope.

Clokeing Buildings with by making them with cloaked drones is easy. Are you saying you can cloke any zerg building without making it with drones? Proboly isn't very hard to figure out. Besides a for your screen shot all you would have to do is put an observer there or share vision to prove your point that it is cloked but even then that doesn't prove that it wasn't made with a drone.

If you can cloke zerg buildings without using cloked drones then im sure It would be too difficult figureing it out.

Oh I don't know why I attached it but here is a cool screen shot lol.

LOL, I was just wondering, what do you want to see, like a shot with them cloaked/ or a shot of someone controling a cloaked building? I'm lost..

I decided to release the secret, it is a tough one though. Zerg is the ezest, so here is Zerg. You take a drone, burrow it, make an arbitor move back and forth, have the drone unburrow at the right time, and BAM, cloaked! Next, build a building at BAM! Cloaked building! That is the Drone! I did it with triggers, but terran and protoss are WAY harder! Also, I said I used triggers, well, it is the same, when a person orders their units, it cloaks them, then it places them under a cloaked unit! Not to complicated, but it takes time to get the space needed right! Good Luck trying, it took me a while!

P.S.- You can try burrowing an SCV, or you could just cloak the building as it is being cloaked, your choice! Same with Probe! It takes experience! Last, the players don't have to cloak anything, that is how the engine works!

I was pretty sure that drones cloked by useing the arbitor method did not produce cloked buildings, The building will warp in the cloked state but finish as uncloaked. I only know this cause i had to figure it out for some newb. What i had to do was something along the lines of place a drone comp owned out of vision area, disable it, order it to move, enable (maybe) warp it to your area and give it to the human player. Then once the human has it he can build cloked buildings and stuff.

Anything. Just a screenshot of anything. Show me a landed cloaked building with the options to build. And I don't want to see the work of a modification either.

Bolt, only some of the Zerg buildings stay cloaked when you build 'em with a cloaked Drone. Hatchery is the first that comes to mind... I think Evolution Chamber, Spawning Pool, and Queen's Nest work, too. Just experiment with those and you'll see.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by dashrike on 2004-03-31 at 17:52:24
Cloaked hatcheries could be interesting... Then if only the zerg had like an arbiter or something, you could have a hidden mine base...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2004-03-31 at 21:41:20
Only the following can be cloaked with the drone:

•Zerg Nydus Canal
•Zerg Defiler Mound
•Zerg Hydralisk Den
•Zerg Spire
•Zerg Greater Spire
•Zerg Queen's Nest
•Zerg Evolution Chamber
•Zerg Spawning Pool
•Zerg Ultralisk Cavern

Lol, you just have to know how! If you want to keep the building cloaked, sometimes you have to build/upgrade it as it comes into the arbitors cloaking zone! It takes it as a unit for a few seconds, and then BAM! You get a very nice cloaked building! With protoss, it is harder, because they don't actually have units to build them, because of warping! It takes time to learn them, infact, I can't do some of them biggrin.gif I'll get them though....

By the way, still working on the bug, it has something to do with the buildings landing cloaked...they always come uncloaked when they lift off, then when they land the game logs off...kind of wierd...
