Aster's D-Day Map Review...
Well i just finished playing the map and I must say i have mixed feelings about the map, its interesting to play and has potential but at the same time isn't built up strong enough...
Terrain: 7
Details: Its not a bad layout at all... its pretty well done in my opinion... maybe a more toward the destructive edge would be nice... have a lot of dirt with bone doodads littered around have burning buildings and bunkers around them firing down on your coming men would be a nice addition considering how brutal the actual D-Day was. But other then that the map was not a bad layout at all.
Triggers: 5
Details: Its a VERY simple map... so i really could give it a bad score because the maps triggers were perfect... but there were also only like 10 triggers. If anything i would add in a few things like attack waves and trigger effects considering that D-Day you didnt just build up forces and assault... units were Constantly attacking... same with the Enemy.. you may want to add a few more enemy bases and have them set to Insane AI because the enemy didnt attack nearly enough to make it a challenge
Difficulty: 3
Details: This map was just easy... once i trained up 12 GI's (Zealots) and gather the rest of the forces i had in my base and rescued the german troops (Which i still dont know why they are rescuable... they are germans... they should be attacking me not helping me) i basically took it to the enemy and destroyed them and didnt lose to many units... it should just be ALOT harder... like i said before make a few more Insane AI computers attacking constantly.
Unit Placement: 6
Details: It wasnt bad, its very random in the bases which is nice.. bases that are to organized tend to look to set up and rigged, there were a few defence posts that you had to clear in order to get to the main camp and you had a few defence posts of your own... but a word of advise... Dont use Defilers as Barbed Wire... thats was the first thing that annoyed me about the map... if you are using any other editor you have the option of placing things like Vespene Cubs (things Probes carry after mining gas)... those make Much better barriers and look better in general... i was also confused as to if the sunkens were supposed to attack or not.. i mena something called (Tank Stopped) typically means something thats gonna stop a tank... preferably destroying it.

Conclusion: Its a pretty good map... basically a glorified set up melee map but not bad none the less. With a few cosmetic alterations, a few Insane AI scripts, and maybe some wave triggers this map could be pretty fun to play... but just a word of advise to you Aster and anyone else making a similar map... Make It Hard! War is never easy why should a map based on war be any different.
