I've seen more violent crap than Halo 2. I don't see anything wrong with violence as long as people don't confuse it with reality, and if they do they are retarded.

ill give you that, i have seen worse, but still............dude, you realy need to go read your " how to function in sociaty" book again. when little kids play that shit, they think the people in the game are cool as fuq. and they want to be just like them. its not there fault, they dont have a ferm grasp on life yet.

Thats why they shouldn't play those games, I never said a 8 year old should play that, or someone who can't tell it's a game.

QUOTE(devilesk @ Jun 16 2005, 12:20 PM)
Blood and gore just add to the realism. I mean it would be stupid in a game like Doom if you had a shotgun and killed a zombie without any gore. In shooting games blood and gore is to be expected.

That's not the point. My point was, Halo 2 is violent. Not as much as Doom 3 though, but it is still violent. And yeah, it would be stupid for a game to be like that (Duke Nukem 3D, with parental lock on)

It is to be expected, but do you see blood and gore in Halo2? No, you don't. And it is the game of the year. Not all FPSs have blood and gore in them. But all are violent

As from what I can see, Gorotsuki never said that an 8 year old should play. Where do you come up with these?

He clearly stated that when little kids play those games, that they just think the person is cool. Like me, when I was around 10-11 I played Duke Nukem 3D. I thought he was the f*cking shit! So, I grabbed my fake gun, and would go out and blow away fake monsters.

Just because they play these games, does not mean they will follow through with what they see.

Okay, so what's wrong with thinking those guys are cool?

Okay, Halo 2 you're shooting aliens and monsters with lasers from some unknown nowhereville. That's not more violent then someone crushing a frail ants body with your foot, or worse, burning it alive with a magnifying glass (I've never burned an ant alive, a quick death will do if he's stealing my food). While this may be violent, it doesn't compare to a game like manhunt. Friendly warning, don't look that up if you're not mature. In that game, you do some pretty sick things to get points, and it's pretty much the goriest game I've ever seen.

An intelligent parent's guidance is more valuable than esrb ratings any day.

This goes with movies too. You can have a movie that has tons and tons of violence, and even swear words (as long as it's not f*ck) and it will be a PG-13 movie. But once it has the f-bomb, gore, and blood, it automatically gets a rated R rating. (Indiana Jone's and the Temple of Doom has a rating of PG-13 and it wasn't even bloody, and had very little violence. That proves as a society, we are getting more and more "bad" as you would say)

In Canada, it only has an R rating if there's sex in the movie. The Matrix was R in America, I think 15A or AA in Canada.

The only thing good I think there is about the ratings is not the things like R, M, T
it's the actual things they describe the game with, such as mild violence, sexual content, strong language etc...

Anytime.

So, desensitization (I think I added a few extra syllables. oh well) is based on gore/blood content; not on the meaning behind the blood/gore? Is that what I'm hearing?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Ultimo on 2005-06-19 at 02:51:14
Yes. There's no blood and gore involved when you have it turned off.

How come some of the people who bitch about blood and gore on video games, don't mind too much when other people's children go enlist into the actual military. And infact, sometimes even encourage them to do so. That's pretty funny if you ask me.

good point Alpha(MC). as i read thu this topic, i noteced SOMEONE said that halo 2 is not very violent? what the hell was that guy looking at when he played? i mean, its the bloodyest game i have seen to date!! were you looking at the box when your freind was playing? lets see you have mass amount of gun and shit and you call it not violent. YOU  ARE THE MOST DESECITIZED PERSEN I HAVE EVER MET! i should find you and bitch slap you........GOD!

If you see blood while playing halo 2, and not just blood stains on the ground, then you might wanna see if you've got ebola. You want bloody? Go play Manhunt, not intended as a flame, but if Halo 2 is the bloodiest game you've ever seen, then this will make you cry.

its all ketchup, and that's all (apparently, prove me wrong if you'd like) you people seem to care about...what about the intention of committing suicide out of dispair, or what about creating these massive weapons (gas chambers, nuclear missles) to innhialte another's way of life? None of this bugs you?

When you're in a battle, you're actually fighting for your life, not for fun. You (usually) gain a sense of violence being wrong. Violence in video games makes the person view it in a fun, nonchalant manner. It COULD lead to instilling a sense of 'lives are worthless' in that person, but that won't happen unless they are really stupid :/

Whenever I talk about WWII it's really disterbing for me. Terrible stuff happened then that I bet at least half a school would think was "cool". It's not so much the blood and gore, I agree, in Manhunt, you're pretty much killing random people for fun. That's where it's dangerous to expose kids to it, hell, adults shouldn't really even find it fun. It's just an electronic version of the Roman Colosseum (I'm talking gladiators), and for whatever reason it's entertaining.

I'd like it if games just stuck to killing the evil bad guys instead of veering off into innocent victims and killing them slowly. But unfortunatly, people like trying out the evil side of things, at least Rogue Agent (007 game) you're still killing bad guys, even though you're a bad guy too, killing people in some prettyawful ways (if you've ever taken two seconds to think about how terrible it would be in reality). But hell, they're paid mercenarys in that game, screw 'em.
