I wasn't saying that EUDs were directly responsable for this patch, what I meant was they'd probably given blizzard a sort of "wake up call" to starcraft. Or maybe they just led to them hiring a few new people to patch. I was just throwing out a guess as to why blizzard has increased the frequency of patching so much.

Hacks are going to be coming at us relentlessly. Even when they come with new patches, the idiots out there will write up hacks that work around the patches. Like someone said, It's a war between new technology and the growing number of idiots; the idiots are winning.

I don't think so. I think they're trying to fix all the bugs now that WOW is basically out and thriving. They're just patching up some glitches for us for the long wait of Starcraft 2 wink.gif

I wouldn't say all hackers are "idiots". There are a lot of hackers out there (some I know) that hack only to protect their own security. Like a library lets say. They find a glitch, work countless hours to exploit it, and when they manage to, they leave it and email the webmaster. Because it's their own security that is at stake too, they want the reassurance that someone can't make all their books overdue by 100 years, or something. Hackers are some of the most intellegent people in soceity as well that you can find. No, I, you, nor many other people don't approve of them releasing these hacks or actually exploiting these issues against people, but don't forget not all hackers actually do that.

Maybe your registry key for the patch downloaded keeps deleting.

Because if you install SC and download the patch, its around 25megabytes, or 3 hours on a dialup modem.

1.13 took me 40 minutes on cable.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MapUnprotector on 2005-09-12 at 19:15:42
Patches take me less than a minute to install.

It takes me longer to try to log on my bot and realize my hashes aren't updated then realizing it's because of a patch, than it does to get the patch.

It takes me longer to find out what the patch is about than to get the patch.

Thanks. In my opinion, everyone complains when they release a patch. Everyone complains even more when they don't release a patch. Why? Because theres no one around to show an example that being kind and grateful for actions from others is much better.

Remember, Blizzard employees are human too. Make sure they know that you appreciate what they do, it'll make them feel warm and fuzzy inside and make everyones day a little bit better.

Does it really bug you that much to take 2 seconds to download and install a FREE patch that blizzard is doing as a SERVICE to you. All you can do is complain about how many there are?

Some times it takes half an hour *cough my old internet with my computer(pentium two, 56k) cough* (now I have cable and takes as long as it does for the computer to react to me pressing "ok"... instantly. Except this patch took 1 second...)

Wow this i great, when I play starcraft again I guess I will have to download a lot of patches biggrin.gif.

Anyways they made all the recent patches in a span of what? 1 and a half month?

You know, right there, that is sad. You use 3rd party programs to gain unfair advantages, and still end up losing?

Shame on you for using hacks. I'm not the all powerful authority on hacking so using them only hurts yourself (I don't enforce ban on hacks unless it is in map night, SEN or tournament games). Plus the fact that you mentioned it, I don't think many SEN'ers are going to play with you as first choice anymore.

mr.ex, that is indeed sad. Please keep the hack discussion away, I can't believe me and DK uberenaed with you, you were probably map hacking...
