GIF's are on a 256 color pallet, thats why they are so small.

It would be kickass if there was a background galley, like the avatar gallery. Even better if you had the more common ones for everyone, and you had to buy access to other site backgrounds.

Yours... btw... is also too bright. Pure white is an automatic no-no.
