Thats what its meant to do.
Well, let's see if this works. Check out my sample city!
Looks very inconsistent, but what it's supposed to be. The biggest one on the left looks kind of half-assed.

You're going to have to do a little more than skyscrapers. They're cool, but people aren't going to play your map just because of the skyscapers.
And moose is right, they dont look right...
Instead of directly copying Yoshi's idea's, why dont you create something entirely diffrent from skyscrapers [Mountains, if your good enough]. Badlands is not a good tileset for a fanatasy setting.
Okay, this picture is one of Illian, a large city. If you would take notice to the Terran Refinery, that will be the Storehouse or Granary. Although it "has" supplies in it, there will be a trigger that, depending on how many of these refineries you own, that will be how large your army can be. Neat eh? It combines the Castle system of Lord of the Rings with anti-hoard. I'm ingenious

j/k.
The Protoss Starports are the actual units used to mark that city as Illian. I'll probably include special things for each individual city, such as purchasing warships in Illian or Aes Sedai in the White Tower. That will make the larger cities all the more appealing, and could lead to some interesting campaigns against a player. Of course, the smaller villages will be important too. If they control farms, you can get a small boost to your army cap. You also receive income from every house you control (or close enough) If I'm really energetic I'll also create "surpluses" in supplies when a player doesn't use all of his/her supplies. They can build up to a certain amount. Hey! Better yet, have the farms create the food, and the granaries store them. Now how creative is that?!
One last thing for tonight. The army creation system is finally beginning to shape into a real form. Sticking true to Diplo, the only buildings (except for pylons//cannons) you can create will be terran buildings. From there you can only create "conscripted units." That is, they are the weaker units I talked about earlier. Each city will spawn a considerable amount of troops depending on Supply Store amount, up to a max of Lvl. 4 (One Refinery = 1 Lvl.). More refineries = more and in some cases better troops. Hmmm, what I meant to say was that in the Barracks you conscript, in the factory and starport you create machines of war. I'm thinking that the spawns will be about every 2:30 to 3:00 (min). And every time you wish to upgrade, you will be "asked" (display text message) to upgrade from your last tech. So, if you have Leather Vests (Lvl. 1 for example) and you come to the beacon to upgrade, you will be asked "Do you wish to upgrade to +25 Plate Mail?" This adds a bit of flavor to the map. I've realized that since this map is going to be huge, I should add some music of my own. Well, it's 2:25 in the morning, so I'll post anything else tomorrow (errr, later today

)
Ciao!
Personally, it all looks really unnatural. I know the technique and idea is really shocking and cool to you.
Something like this (yes, in my matrix map) looks more natural:

People, I have a reason for doing what I do. I tried to keep in mind that my map is a fantasy map! I got rid of that awful grayish terrain in the north of Illian, so it'll be cleaner. But if I made all the "skyscrapers" like Yoshi, then they would look like, well, skyscrapers. I don't know of any skyscrapers back in the day! This isn't the WorldEditor (WarCraft), so I essentially
have to use Badlands. Try making a large building with a temple! Anything made with a temple looks like crap. Badlands is simply so much better to use. I know, if I could use the Jungle Template, it'd be rock'n! But then again, it's StarCraft we're talking about here. If you can imagine a marine as an archer or a tank as a battering ram, why can't you imagine my cities as grand? I believe that under the circumstances I achieved some of the best results as possible. Here, I fixed up Illian for ya!
Looks like you've been doing some homework

Um... thanks for giving away our IPs for the world to see. -_-
Yeah I have! I've decided to take a look-see into the world of Yoshi, mainly to see the updates. Just because I'm competing doesn't mean I don't want to play your map too! And to tell the truth, I've only looked at the first and last posts

Whoops
Edited image. My bad

Really, this is getting wierd guys...Plus, why have that terrain on your map Fela, and a Temple building WOULD look really cool!
Did I not explain? A temple would look all chopped up and crappy! I use the palette on StarForge for the buildings!
No, not if you set it up correctly and slowly looked for possible connections, with time and effort it could be done, and would look mighty impressive!
Well, we'll say I spent about 90 minutes trying to create a temple, and failed utterly!
I consider it a great possibility that he didn't copy anything from Yoshi's map.
Often times, quite often, I'll think of some cool idea, then find out someone else already thought of it and people start calling me a "copy-cat". Meh... \=
However, I doubt it'll be done by the summer.
And, also, in that screenie, well, I don't like you're over-excessive use of squared terrain.
I would use X-Tra editor for all the terrain that doesn't need to be squared(i.e. sky-crapers, mountains, gigantuanormous... wait, is that even a word?... bridges, etc), then use SF the very last, because its Iso Terrain doesn't really work, umm, perfectly.
lol okay I'll leave him alone now

well here is what i did in less then 20 minutes.
sure they don't look the best but this is what
I can do in less then 20 minutes.
and why people don't give you the benefit of the doubt because you do crap like this

this is my crap post of the day, i hope none of you find this
- WoA-Felagund
and when you do stuff like that people will talk down upon you and think of you not haveing any skill at all
i am pretty shore that was you or am i wrong? cause i could just be hallucinating
Thanks to you guys : ) I have found NEW meaning to my life. I guess I just didn't try hard enough. I blow as a mapmaker...

Sorry... for... all the... crap... I've posted...
Hey Fela, I don't want to seem like a jerk, but this has to be said. Keep in mind that this is constructive criticism. The city you showed us a few shots of looks very unprofessional. Mixed isometric and square terrain makes it look chopped up and sloppy, like you didn't spend much time on it. Try to make the terrain used consistently, so we can see a general theme. IE, skyscrapers made from mostly the same terrain blocks, a specific kind of terrain used for the ground (instead of a mishmash of square and isometric), and a more consistent way of mixing terrain and buildings. That's what I would do to make it seem ordered and complete.
don't give up, this map sounds really good if you need help thats what this web site is for, to give help. but don't get cocky saying that your map is the best before you even have proof
Okay, I've taken your suggestions to heart and completely started over! Thanks to you I wouldn't have to make that change oh say a couple of months down the road! I sense victory is within my grasp! Here is a test picture of Tar-Valon, the biggest city in teh game. It's in the early stages, and I am doing nearly every square by
hand. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Yoshi! Take the time to make a skyscraper x 5 and you have the task that lies ahead of me.

So while Yoshi (probably?) moves onto uber-trigs I'm still stuck with the prospect of creating a living world. And furthermore, I shall never give up! If I wasn't so damn lazy I'd churn out maps like a factory. So, here you are, a picture of Tar-Valon. It's not completed yet (I hope you could realize that

) Time to catch a few hours of shuteye!
It looks alot better but i still have a few suggestions.
-The very middle under the satalite deal thingy. change the terrain to be constantly the gray stuff.
-At the base of the tower in the middle. Remove the rocky sqaure tiles and replace with grass. If your going for realisim you shouldn't see nasty sqaure edges like that.
-On the outer edges consider making the river thing thicker so they match the bridges. Or edit the bridges to make the river thinner in those points.
-I'll assume your pictures was taken in a editor like starforge or something judgeing by the doors that face the wrong direction and the units not in there bunkers. Also be carefull not to overstack your buildings. Try enableing the cannons with triggers or useing turrets to avoid useing pylons.
So all I have to do is a trigger like so?
Cond: Whatever
Action: Enable Doodad Status for Cannons
