If you need more mods (which we don't) bring back old ones, such as Mr.Camo, Kame, Clokr_, or me. Whatever works.

I really don't think we need more mods though, everything seems to be working fine. It's just people's perception on what needs to be locked and what doesn't.

First of all, if everyone on SEN thinks it should be some way, shouldn't it be that way? Except for the flammers/idiots/spammers, of course. If most decent members think something is wrong, it usually is.

I agree that insult != flame, though.

I would like a repicking of moderators, some of the current ones aren't active. Some threads aren't locked fast enough. There was a thread in NULL with people telling everyone how Nuclearrabbit sucks and it went on for 7+ pages before it was locked (if it was).

I haven't seen Mr. Camo awfully active, but it might be that I'm not looking in the wrong forums, and last time I checked Kame didn't want to be a moderator.

The moderators actually saw the topic, they just didn't close it.

You can't really expect us to be online almost all of the time, and while we may be online, we don't check every single forum every single time.
If your idea of Mods is someone who would spend an indefinite amount of time in here seeing that everything is corrected within minutes or a few hours, you are wrong.

Anything can wait a day or two. I see no possible circumstance that would require us to rush in here.

Red2Blue would suck to be a mod tongue.gif.

Yea kelli it seems mostly when i report posts nothing happens. But its wierd when im warned when others are clearly flaming to. Also i hate it when i dont get a notification i mean seriously do your jobs mods.

We should get a bit more strict on the 100kb sig rule.
I see a lot of people with 100kb sigs, I usually report them to Beer/DTBK.
Then again, it isnt' that big of a deal.

Some of the old moderators don't want to be moderators any more. Kame doesn't, Clokr_ isn't that active (from what I've seen), and Mr.Camo isn't that active (from what I've seen).

Then in my opinion that brings up the issue of respect to popular but inactive (probably deceased) members, but I wouldn't go too deep into that at the moment.

Yah, if admins want to save space, force people to buy the signature ability wink.gif. I think good idea for Sen v5, as I have mentioned before.

No, the rule is already set.
But tons of people break it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2006-01-15 at 18:40:06
I know that, I'm saying that ir can be easily remedied by forbidding signatures from people who come here 5 times and leave by making the ability cost minerals. I'm not saying its not a rule.

Yeah that was a pretty dumb idea on all mods part. One person online (Not naming) said that "They saw a 11 page thread about how good nuke is" and that it's ok to see "how much he sucks" or something like that. I highly think they were being sarcastic but it doesn't change the fact that the thread was based off flaming, whether nuke was dead or not shouldn't change that.

We don't really need to repick the staff. We have like 1000 active members that can look out for the forums and talk to a mod about that. So it is like the whole community is a moderator in themselves, it is jsut that they don't have the power.

Like Jesus and Peter...Jesus gave him power to heal one man, but can't heal the second...Because Jesus gave him the power.

True we have active members... the problem lies in the response. I made a few reports about spam and such to the moderators using the report button. And the mods were on as well (I was looking). Yet even though I made reports, they were left unspoken.

I had to go to legacy personally to get moderation on a forum topic.

I don't think we need more active global moderators... we just need more active local moderators (specific forums).

That way everyone here can enjoy a plesant experience.

Im for that... and against it...
If we forced people to buy signature ability, we would lose a great deal of interest in the creative section (which is already recieving little interest). But it does help in the moderation experience.

That topic got way out of hand... it became an extreme spam flaming contest.
Many topics these days become flame contests due to certain members...

Ive seen some threads last for weeks without moderation. They kinda linger around before something happens. The global moderators are actually more active then not... its just hard to moderate so many topics...

Is there a rule that every report we get, we HAVE to do what the person says? Has anyone considered that the mod might disagree? For instance, I had someone report me spam on his thread, yet he's posted numerous, "yea, thnx lol" posts in that same thread. Then I have someone complaining about a swear word in a thread that's already locked.

We are people. We aren't tools you pick up when you want something your way. I don't get why people complain DTBK rules too harshly, but they want more done against spam or flames.

I'll be honest. I don't read every single topic posted in the forums I am in. But do I really have the time to do that everyday? We are people. We make mistakes.

There are alot of unjust things happening here... I guess the "people" don't get as much say as you think... then again, this is life... life happens because it does...

Well maybe if moderators can't do it all themselves they could use assistance. And I don't mean the report button, I mean more moderators.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Red2Blue on 2006-01-15 at 21:09:28
The report button is part of moderation. Its like a little side thing along with the moderation itself.

Well the eyes on the back of the mod's heads must have gone bad... cause they aren't seeing everything very clearly.

What's the point of having eyes in the back of your head... when you never take the chance to look back?

The eyes behind your head may be decieving you. ermm.gif

I referr you to the optomitrist.

I think another mod or two in the UMS section would help a lot, the discussion sections aren't bad but UMS is spam-tastic.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Red2Blue on 2006-01-15 at 21:21:26
Ums does get a little out of hand. Moderation could play a great role there... but its really just hard to say what can turn up in an open ended section like that.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-01-15 at 21:22:34
Ehh, I think more flaming/spam comes from the discussion forums.

Addition.
How about a moderator for Website Feedback?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Demaris on 2006-01-15 at 21:24:07

Flaming is true, but we need someone (like me;)) who could take all the single, simple question threads and answer them quickly plus close them. Legacy does this, but he cant be on all the time.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Red2Blue on 2006-01-15 at 21:27:06
Legacy is super efficient when it comes to closing threads and making sure signatures are on key. But true, he has a life and lives it. He can't be around all the time.

QUOTE

You think more? I think all comes from those...
All it takes is one person... with one insult... to start the chain of events that lead to a firey death of flames and spam.

Precisely. Some people think that just because someone disagrees with them that they're being flamed, so they report a post and go "OMGWTF ITS FLAME! BAN!!!".

QUOTE
but SEN dislikes me for reasons I don't understand

Your insistence on "insulting", "flaming", or whatever else you want to call it is at the root of many flame problems. You continue to call people "whities/greryies/greenies" or whatever color or choose. I don't care what the origin of the color is, it is still a derogatory remark.

You want me to get serious and harsh? I'll start by getting rid of you. Your "blunt"-ness or whatever euphemism you choose to use is starting the flame wars you so desparately seem to want to eradicate.

It's clear you've made this topic for the sole purpose of attacking me and bringing your flame war to me.
