wow i could say i doesnt like "x" because it sucks

since it applies to everything, this arguement doesnt worth anything.

but that wasn't my point.

Rap promotes violence, drugs, and pimping womem, all of them are bad.

You are talking about COMMERCIAL rap (you should read before replying)

while you just mention "rap" so basicly.. you don't know what you are talking about since i bet u never heard any of the bands i named beside 50cents (which sucks)

QUOTE
I don't think some computer geek is going to listen to rap and become a gangster

why are you talking of computer geeks? are you a computer geek? anyway theres no link between what the music is and who listens to the music.. so why did u say that? it doesnt help your cause at all..

QUOTE
I don't even think a computer geek is going to listen to rap in the first place.

Why not?.. but anyway i understand why u said that since you dont even know what you are talking about... (you only know commercial rap)

QUOTE
And if you noticed, my post has more than one point.

Yes i did, and if you noticed, all of them are pointless.

hmm and btw, the next time you try to give your opinion on something.. try to get information on the subject before saying absurb things and look ignorant.

The 1st amendment is not designed to protect the ideas/content you like, it's there to protect the stuff you don't like.
I hate rap, but I still think it is the right of people to listen/make it if they want.

i agree with the way you see it..

rap (even the shizty commercial rap) is a way some people uses to express their opinions about many subjects..

and about the smartest kind of rap.. .. this is art.. making these awesome lyrics like TTC do... thats more than just singing a song..

yeah and to the ones who think TTC is just a rap group like another u could have heard before.. roflol.. u don't know what you are talking about..

Wrong, I listened to rap for around 3 years, but I recently switched to classical music, and trust me, it promotes violence, sex, drugs, and what not.

And I said computer geek as an example, because it is uncharacteristic like of them to do drugs, smoke weed, have sex, and so on.

And Jesus Christ, you missed the part that me not liking rap wasn't the point.

yeah commercial rap.. thats the part u missed..

idc about commercial rap.. its just some pure sh*t.. its only made for the money.. (like every other commercial music.. of course)

and people listen to that shiz and they waste their time.. but who cares? its their right..

i still think the computer geek has nothing to do there....

and my point is you have no point beside the one of trying to say how the rap sucks without even knowning what you r talking about (once again read this: idc about commercial, even if u know it)

People themselves are bad, games have hardly any affect on them. The reason that we see a connection between bad people and violent video games is because the parents who buy Doom 3 for their 9 year old child are usually bad. Most of a child's opinions are greatly affected by what their parents think, and if their parents are loafing rednecks who go to a shooting range every sunday and buy their kids violent video games.. well... I don't need to explain.

Wow, I honestly thought I wouldn't have to explain this to you again, apparently not. First off, commercial rap, is still rap, is it not? Second, I have listened to rap, underground rap, whatever you want. It's still about killing and other negative things. Computer geek was not ment as anything, it's there to be used as an opposite of a gangster, or a rapper.

And last but not least, I know what I'm talking about.

Yeah of course it's about negative things, they aren't gunna sell many albums rapping about candy and unicorns. blink.gif

But what's wrong with people having sex? The human race would die out if they didn't.

There are pros and cons into banning explicit thingies I think are...

Pros: Violence, cursing, etc= down
Rap= Down (Sorry, I detest rap.)
Life will seem a lot less freaky at times.
People going outside= UP
Obesity might go down.

Cons:Animes & Mangas= Down
Lose the feel of some stories.
Life for physically handi-capped may not be able to enjoy as much.
Games= Down
Jobs related to video games production= Down
Game Companies= Down
Transportation might go up.

I am against banning of violence in video games. (To a certain point.)
Everything else can go down the drain of time.
Yay for violence in video games! (To a certain point.)
Boo other thing!

I'm going to make the most offensive song possible....based on pie, cake, and leprechauns. Then we will see wether the language or the content is what is offensive.

Pies are evil! Throw them at evil people which turns them into evil and thus they throw evil pies at peopel who are evil pie throwing evil people.

Evil = offensive

Thus it would be offensive

Offspring said it best on their track "Disclaimer:"

Ladies and gentlemen,
welcome to the disclaimer.
That's right the disclaimer.

This american apple pie institution
known as parental discretion,
will cleanse any sense of innuendo or sarcasm
from the lyrics that might actually make you think.
And will also insult your intelligence at the same time.

So protect your family
this album contains explicit depictions
of things which are real.
These real things are commonly known as life.
So if it sounds sarcastic don't take it seriously.
If it sounds dangerous,
do not try this at home or at all.
AND IF IT OFFENDS YOU JUST DON'T LISTEN TO IT.

Plain and simple, if you find it offensive, do the above. And for parental reasons, these are things you wish your children not to do, then perfect. Supervise and have your children listen to the music, and tell them it is bad, and why it is bad. The "why" part is very important, so make sure it can be understood BY ANOTHER PERSON(not yourself), and is very thorough, or you will seem incompitent and will not be taken seriously. And it is better that songs and movies are releasing "explicit" songs and titles. It gives out a modern output that keeps you up to the times for better moderation.

So yeah, rather you enjoy explicit lyrics and movies, carry on. And those who don't enjoy them and wish to get rid of them. It's not the lyrics, it's your inability to use them, and handle them. Open that closed shell of yours, explore, and as crude lamen demands to be said... Get a clue.

If you're seriously that dumb to be like DAAAAAAH EMINEM SHOT THIS KID IMA GO KILL SOMEONE CUZ IM COOL or IN GTA I CAN KILL PPL IMA GO DO IT ITS FUN

Then you aren't dserving of a human life.

Music and video games shouldn't influence people, but it ends up doing so anyway =/

Anyone ever play Postal 2? The game's as violent as you make it. You can seriously take out your wang and piss on things/people. My friend pissed on a dog and it started to bite off his wang (I'm not letting SEN censor it, I'm actually typing wang). You can do such to civilians, etc, you can knock people's heads off with shovels, etc...

It's excessive. Or you can do nothing, go buy your milk and bring it home to mommy. smile.gif

Hooray for me posting in a topic 12 days after it's dead! ;P

i don't think they should be banned...but it can be good or bad. Younger audience or specific people seems to get influenced by things they see or interact with so that would be why people would rate its bad. People that know the difference between right and wrong or know the difference between imaginary and reality would be ok. Thats pretty much why they rate everything on games, movies, and music that target specific age groups.
It's just how people act after they see certain things like violence, death, and the like are reality is what i think. I still remember some stuff with like marilyn manson incident that happened a few years ago...

I'm sure this was iterated earlier in the topic, but there are warnings and age limits for a reason. Any mental defects in the child are purely the parents fault for letting them use the product.

An explicit song really drives me insane, because its not music for the good of it, its delivering a bad message, which really hurts. The world isn't worse than it was before, but it changed substancially because of messaging mainly in music (rap/punk/ rock bands like theory of a deadman)

And as long as man-kind exists, there will always be battles.

Too bad we didn't run the California gov't because the Governator passed a law banning Mature games for 17 years or younger. I think anyway... either that or some law that restricted to people with something to ID them like when buying tobacco.

Being one who fully supports the constitution I dont support censorship of any kind.

If its the kids you're worried about, tell their parents to do a better job. Kids are already way too overprotected anyways.

But you probaly shouldnt listen to me since i the freak who has a Tupac cd right next to Enyas new cd.

You obviously dont know what you're talking about at all. Gangsta rap is mostly negative while the greater scope of rap is not. You claim to have listened to a lot of rap but this I can take as nothing more than a bold faced lie. Will Smith is but one of many examples of many highly succesful rap artists that are not negative. And dont dare try and say Will is R&B.

Do you support discipline though? If so, I totally agree with you. Expose the kids, but instill discipline in them that it's wrong (if it so happens to be).

I find it funny how he claims his rap is totally clean of curse words, but his roles in his movies have quite dirty mouths.
