It's fun, and I enjoy making things for other people and myself to enjoy. Not to mention I got a few death threats if I don't finish my current mod.

I take joy in wasteing time. (If no one has noticed yet, I haven't finished a map since I joined SeN.)

I think the biggest thing for Map Makers is the satisfaction that they created something that the community will play 
thats my feelings for maps im going to make i just want people to play them and have fun
Lots of maps out there are too complicated for some bnet citizens, eg. Stack Unit Defense,Spiral Defense,Area 51 and lots of others.
so usually you want to make the map fun but on the same hand simple though simple maps do get low ratings they get played the most
