thank you someone finally said it. Reading > TV. TV (well, history channel is ok =P) doesnt benefit you in any way
at least reading gives you some knowledge and helps your brain cells!

T.V helps your mind alot. It also helps the economy! When you watch T.V, o sure it makes u lose more brain cells but it relaxes and takes off ur stress.. T.V has issues yes we all know but theres a good side to it. SO DONT SAY TV SUCKS!

tv is far better then reading and a lot funnier. when i read, either im a little bit interested or i could care less. reading isnt appealing to me at all.

TV is not intellectually stimulating. Computers can be, but TV can't.

I've always been a big reader. Books, magazines, wikipedia/news articles, forum posts, newspapers... anything I can get my hands on, really.

I've found it actually does help me with life, often when I'm writing for school or debating something, I find what I've learned from books really helps.

I read. A lot. I have a stack of about 20-35 books of about 300-400 page books. Not big type books. Tiny, tiny print. Oldschool Dragonlance FTW.

I've always been a big reader, and so is my father. His personal library consists of ABOUT 2500 books, about 90% of which he's read.

Computers kick book's ass. If they were in a wrestling ring, books would be me, and computers would be chuck norris.

I don't buy the, I read therefore I'm an intellectual, bullcrap. The only real reading that you should be doing, is on forums such as these. I've learned so much more from this forum in almost 2 years, then I have had in my entire 4 years of highschool. Only advantage highschool has over this site, is the improvment in social learning.

I agree with the book people. If we read more books, then the range and variety of our lexicons increases, you acquire more knowledge on most things, and it keeps morons off of the streets.

ADDITION:
In addition, reading is one of the primary means of escaping. If someone has a hard day at school/work, then they can just go home and commence in the fantastic art of escapism, and forget about the days problems until they are better equipped to deal with them.

lolz the only bad thing a comp or a tv does is blind u IF u look too near to it. and comps can make people smart too. theres a dictionary so u can look up words and its faster than reading any other dictionary and more..

I've only read 2 books in my entire life, and I'm getting 93% avg in English

I love reading non-fiction such as encyclopedias tho

A 93% doesn't mean crap if you don't earn it. What level is it? How much work do you do? What's the title of the english class (such as Types of Lit or Comp and Lit)

You can't categorize people who don't read as "many teenagers". We are forced to read daily, books for school for instance. You having seen the schools near my house. The only real issue, inconcern to reading is Not being informed about Their own country or their world. Such as the problems in isreal or iraq, or what their even doing. reading just stimulates the brain, so people tend to hide from it once in awhile.

On the other side of the wheel, people like me, who read pretty fanatically, are doing mediocre in school because we prefer reading to being responsible. Ahh...procrastination!
