QUOTE(Sarah_K @ May 18 2006, 04:42 AM)
I meant nothing would be lost by sports becoming obselete (due to people being able to pick physical attributes rather than having to rely on being born with em) tongue.gif

well, maybe there would be a little more violence, but that could be solved by compulsory aggression inhibitors for all men not in the military smile.gif

Ya, because women aren't violent AT ALL. Seriously, I was threatened by at least 20 girls this week and I saw a 9th grader initiate a fist fight with a 10th grader today.

QUOTE(CaptainWill @ May 18 2006, 02:37 PM)
Obviously there would have to be rules and regulations in sport governing what augmentations a competitor can have. It would be pretty obvious if someone had a cybernetic implant or something of that ilk ('Your leg is made out of metal?'), and there could be tests for genetic enhancements.

Oh yea... And I'll need springs in my feet first.

yes well.. we do have fights yeah.. but less often then guys tongue.gif
this is because testosterone hormone gives aggression and men are like 20x the amount of testosterone ;p
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DarK on 2006-05-19 at 06:01:55
I hope ppl dont actouly think that all our emotions are caused 100% hormones.. Hormones actouly increase the effect of a emotion ( In my opinion )

And guys, girls interact differently..
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CaptainWill on 2006-05-19 at 19:37:23
That's true - there are massive behavioural differences between men and women, particularly in the way in which they communicate within single-sex groups, with each sex having its own rules on who should speak at what time.

I studied it for a year but I didn't like the workload so I chose the drop the subject (English Language).

Lol well the facts realy are I dont think we should lose sports because we could sit in a chair for 200 years or more and learn nuclear physics.. Sports should be there and all kind of other competitive games. I dont think anyone could handle doing 'mind exercises' for the rest of their normal life or extended life. And I dont think we should be given immortality.

Testosterone makes you more violent when aggrevated, not more prone to aggrivation. Women are more prone to aggrivation because they're more emotional.

riiiiight.
QUOTE(http://www.unece.org/stats/gender/web/genpols/keyinds/crime/perps.htm)
Women comprise a small minority of all convicted criminals, constituting around 15 per cent of convicted criminals in most of the ECE countries according to 1996/1998 figures.

[...]

men commit the majority of violent crimes

[...]

In most ECE countries, fewer than 1 in 10 assaults are committed by women, as said by the same report
QUOTE(http://endabuse.org/resources/facts/)
Women are much more likely than men to be killed by an intimate partner. In 2000, intimate partner homicides accounted for 33.5 percent of the murders of women and less than four percent of the murders of men.17

[...]

Seventy-eight percent of stalking victims are women. Women are significantly more likely than men (60 percent and 30 percent, respectively) to be stalked by intimate partners.38

Are you sure, Sarah?

I read in The Times yesterday that Britain's teenage girls are much more badly behaved than boys, and more likely to commit crimes. They are especially more likely to binge drink, smoke cannabis or commit acts of vandalism.

Not all behaivour is caused by hormones.. Theres enviorment, society, friends, family, media and so on.

Eh, I dislike genetic selection because it gives people too much control. Think about it, if we can make all children into one perfect personality, are they not a Clockwork Orange, an automatron of good? Is it better to be able to do only good and have no free will or have free will and choose to do evil? The thing is, for a healthy environment, we need our flaws. They are what keep us alive, for once one reaches perfection, what is there to strive for? What use is reproduction if you are immortal? Stop trying to get back into the Garden of Eden. There's a reason it was sealed with a flaming sword.

thats a british thing (we're going through a bit of a freakedup alocholic phase at the moment), it's different in most other countries

Im sure youve been to most countries Sarah wink.gif

And drinking causes alot of things. Weakest stages of drinking cause rise of self confidence and make you feel good. Stronger stages cause lack of cordination and so on. And the loss of ability to analyze circumstances.

I trust the UN statistics more than opinions of random internet people wink.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DarK on 2006-05-22 at 07:34:29
UN statistics taken from some random ppl? Pretty much same.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Sarah_K on 2006-05-22 at 07:49:16
Not really, the UN statistics are from a much larger amount of people, and are actually regulated to make sure they are accurate...... internet rumours are not wink.gif

I've noticed that in my country a lot of girls drink just becawse "it's cool" or something like that, while guys (who are mature in terms of using alcohol-drink not to get drunk as a pig) drink usually with their best friends, just to have good time & to relax.

Transhumanism is immoral. The outcome of this action is overpopullation which will bring more pollution. People will be near invincible and there will be endless wars. There will also be more unemployment and such.

Random sampling of a large and varied subsection produces the same results..

UN stuff is of course compiled from censuses/police data around the world, from many countries...

back to transhumanism: yeah Echo, but birth control means it would not necessarily be bad. most likely there would be a waiting list if you wanted to have a child, to make sure the population didn't grow too much - either that or when people get bored they choose to die to make a place for a new person wink.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DarK on 2006-05-23 at 02:09:18
Immoral.

Genetical research to fight diseases and severe ones like cancer is good smile.gif

But turning humans into immortals would = doom
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Sarah_K on 2006-05-23 at 05:04:48
Why is it immoral?
Why would it equal doom?

You supply no reasons, so I suppose you're just using religious thought.. which does NOt = rational thought tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DarK on 2006-05-23 at 05:28:33
Please dont make fun/or comments about religion, its immature.

Ok immoral because yes I am religious

Doom because humans are destructive, greedy, power hungry. Wed just kill each other and clone each other as much as we can and leave our scientists immortal and soldiers. So we could get as much as we can.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Sarah_K on 2006-05-23 at 10:28:48
Using religion as an argument to do or not do something is about as immature as you can get...

Sorry, but "you can't do this because some beardy old guy hundres of years ago said god talked to him, wrote a book and said that god doesn't want you to do this" just doesn't cut it. Nowadays people who say that god talks to them go where they belong: An asylum. smile.gif
